Shot these out of a 20" 1:10 twist Ruger Precision Rifle a few years ago, same story at 100yds.

I think 1:7 twist is recommended for subsonic .300 blk so this would probably do well with similar twist rate.

If you can get your hands on the Lapua Subsonic 7.62x51 you will have better luck with stability. They use a balanced bullet design with a rebated boat tail. Still 200 grains, just much more accurate at range without the keyholing.

Those are the ones. The projectile design is similar to the Finnish D166 sniper round. I noticed that your link showed they were out of stock, but Natchez lists them as in stock. www.natchezss.com/lapua-subsonic-rifle-ammunition-308-win-200-gr-fmj-bt-1066-fps-20-ct.html

I got the same results out of my Bergara HMR. It didn’t keyhole but wasn’t able to get anything that resembled a group. Looked like a shotgun all over the place. Shame because their 308 168 match ammo shoots sub moa

The boat tail could be the problem. A lot of handloaders who make subsonic ammo use flat-based bullets. The word on the street is that boat tails don’t stabilize at such low velocities.

Subsonic 308 needs round nose bullets the twist isn't fast enough for them heavy pointy bullets

I never understood why any one would have any use for this subsonic stuff. it has less energy then a 357 magnum. To me it is totally useless. It is like buying a corvette and taking the big V8 engine out and replacing it with a 4 cylinder.

Subsonic is significantly quieter suppressed. You're right about 357 having more energy at the muzzle, but past about 100 yards the 308 will retain more energy. It'll also have a lot less wind drift.

Subsonic ammo is fun for shits and giggles, but for any serious application (hunting, self-defense), you’re totally handicapping yourself by sticking to subsonic loads.

Subsonic ammo does have the benefit of less velocity so you have less barrel erosion

I hear ya but.....I bet you wouldn’t stand at 100 yards and get shot at with it, you wouldn’t be able to get out the way and the bullet would still go through you.
