Vermont is definitely one of the best states for families to live in the country; it is also touted to be among the safest states, according to recent data published by the FBI in 2021. These are the reasons why you should consider making a move to this place.
There are a lot of things that you can enjoy in Vermont. It has nice weather all year long and offers picturesque scenery, such as the marvelous landscapes in Montpelier and the extended summer attractions provided by Lake Champlain.
The economy in this state is doing great, as well. It offers a strong job market and has shown resilience against the financial downfalls brought by the COVID-19 pandemic. As of now, it is still among the states with the lowest unemployment rates. You and your family can certainly afford the living standards that you want to establish while you are residing in any of the towns and cities in Vermont.
In this video, I've listed all the best places to live in Vermont. If you want to plan to move here, you should watch this video first. In this way, you can get an address that suits your needs and preferences. Let's get started!

I don't know who came up with this, but I wonder if they've even set foot in this state, let alone lived here. I'm a 9th gen Vermonter and I love it here, but I can tell you that the cost of living is high, housing is scarce and incredibly expensive, the wages aren't fantastic, you don't have broadband or cell service everywhere, and with our long, harsh winters, saying that the weather is "always nice" is blatantly false advertising. As others have said, you might want to do some fact checking before presenting this kind of video.

5th generation Vermonter here. Totally agree. They took info off a fact sheet provided by State House. Vermont has been begging families to move here for years. Besides, Norwich kids except for elementary all attend school in NH. And all the others listed are in the Burlington/Montpelier corridor that rules the state.

I live in Vermont in Essex and it is not distant it's right next to Jericho and Williston and S. Burlington and Shelburne. Almost all of these towns listed are in Chittenden County. I don't agree with much of the information shared here. Should get your facts straight. Don't get me wrong, Vermont is beautiful and safe. The schools are very good in Chittenden County especially for children with special needs, but outside of that I can't say as I haven't lived in other counties. It is, however, very expensive and has very long, cold, dark winters. If you want to move or are planning to move here please do your research. Don't just watch these videos and see how pretty and quaint it appears; research it, talk to people who live here, join social media groups, etc.

I agree completely, I’ve lived all over Vermont and this is skewed to make people move here, which we don’t need. Do you wonder why our crime rates are so low (but are on the rise)? Housing is not like she is saying and is only getting worse with the influx of people. Sure if you have an extreme excess of money there’s lots of amenities, if not then you better be satisfied with a lot of long walks in the woods. I love it here, go fishing, hiking and shooting all the time but this video doesn’t sit well with me, also our winters are hell

I grew up in Vermont, so here is my list: If you are looking for a small urban feel, Burlington is your best bet, but Winooski is growing rapidly if you are fine with living in a one-bedroom condo situated near a bunch of jobs. It also has a great restaurant scene, historic feel, and by FAR the most ethnic and racial diversity in the State. If you're looking for a small-town with a nice village, Middlebury/Vergennes area is great as is the Montpelier/Waterbury area. Looking for the Lake life? Colchester is a nice suburb along the lake, but is more pricey. The hidden gem in my opinion are the Lake Champlain Islands - flat, bikeable, tons of lake access, only has locally-owned businesses, and has a friendly neighborly environment. Manchester and Brattleboro are some nice towns in Southern Vermont with village feels and I agree that Norwich is nice as well. If you are looking for a quiet, secluded home in the woods away from everything, your best bet is what we call the Northeast Kingdom. It's eerily quiet and has some beautiful scenery. But it really is quite far from everything (so it's perfect if that's what you're looking for!)

As a vermonter I have to add that it's the 2nd most expensive state to live in. Property tax is one of the highest, food prices in the second behind Hawaii and youd think with it being so pricey that the minimum wage would be higher but it's not with limited job availability aswell. Vermont is a great place to retire or go to school but if you want to live somewhere affordable and start your life right vermont isnt the best option.

I lived in Vermont for 15 years while teaching at Middlebury College. I took many trips around the state, soaking up the scenery and diversity of living space. I didn’t quite qualify for the 251 Club, of people who have visited all 251 cities and towns in the state, but would have if I’d stayed there much longer. Yes, I did visit all seven towns listed here, but agree that too many are in the same area, near Burlington. That said, I must thank you for screening this. It revives many fond memories.

I grew up across the river from Norwich, in Hanover, NH. While I consider myself a proud Granite Stater, I have always loved Vermont and do feel a close connection to it since Hanover and Norwich are essentially one community, as they share the same school district, and Norwich kids attend Hanover schools starting in grade seven (so I had a ton of Vermont friends in school). Many Norwich residents are also employed by Dartmouth College, which is in Hanover. I have been living in Scandinavia for over a decade now, but not too long ago, my wife and I were discussing the possibility of moving to the States, and we decided that if we were to pull the trigger and make the move, we'd go to Vermont. One of the other cool things, especially in northern Vermont, is you are not far from Montreal. So you can get a very cool multicultural, and almost European feel, just a short drive from the Burlington area.

Hey if u want to live here don’t expect Starbucks, Uber or any other things you city people want. It’s rural New England, Get your wool sweaters, socks & underwear, don’t flinch if you see a dead deer hung up & flayed out in your neighbors yard during hunting season. Make sure you have snow tires & don’t drive like an idiot during a snow or ice storm because you’ll end up upside down. Beware of skunks porcupines & fisher cats. And believe it if a native says “well, don’t think you can get there from here.”. It’s Gods Country a beautiful state just respect it. Okay? Thank you and have a nice day 😊

As a longtime Vermonter: Mills Riverside Park is not in Essex (it's in Jericho and Underhill);, Essex is indistinguishable from any suburb anywhere. Same for Williston (home of big box stores and franchise restaurants) and South Burlington, the town without a center. Norwich, however, is excellent, which is why it costs a lot to buy a house there (it is to some extent a bedroom community for Dartmouth College faculty, including those from the medical school). Generally, this piece doesn't understand Vermont (no, the weather is not always nice, and the state gets about the fewest hours of sunshine of any state). On the other hand, the quiet and the wildlife make it worth it.

Ok, after living 50+ years in Vermont, I cannot tell you how inaccurate they have been in talking about or showing the area. I spent a lot of time in So. Burlington and my sister still does. I was amazed that when you got to So. Burlington there was not one single scene that was So. Burlington. You showed Burlington and as far as all that lumber stuff is concerned... I have no clue where that is located, but it is not So. Burlington. All the water scenes were either Burlington or Shelburne. Anyone going there looking for the place would certainly not recognise it based on the description or pictures you were showing. Also it does not have a booming economy as far as job selections or rate of pay. Most of the low unemployment rate is due to minimum wage jobs. There once were many high paying jobs in technology (i.e. IBM and Digital and more) but most have left the area because Vermont is not business friendly. It is strictly a place were wealthy people move to and not a place where they go to if becoming wealthy is on their mind. That is, of course, unless your name is Ben or Jerry! My whole family had to relocate to NC to have a living wage and a higher standard of living. Vermont is a pretty state though when it isn't covered in snow.

You cannot buy a decent home in any of these towns for less than $450k and renting anything decent that is larger than a 1 bedroom is going to be $2k a month with nothing included. Also, Norwich is the only town you listed that isn’t over developed. Chittenden County is so much different than the rest of the state and most of these towns are all next to each other in Chittenden County. Over 25% of the entire population of the state lives in Chittenden County. There are only 11 towns/cities in Vermont with over 10k people and 7 of them are in Chittenden county. If you want to live in real Vermont move to a small town with a population of less than 3k.

Blessedly, the very best places, where we live, are NOT listed (heh heh). And most of us make way less than the folks in Jericho. The state in general does try harder than most.

Clearly written by someone who never lived in VT and I grew up right next to Jericho, the first mention. It used to be a good state until people from MA, CT, NYC etc., out populated locals and utterly destroyed the State. I also worked at Mills Riverside Park at the store (now a Jollys) and the campground. Went in the Army, came back for some of the most expensive tuition in the State. Anti-business, outrageous taxes and a legistature control by lunatics from out of state that are led by people like Bernie Sanders. FYI, he IS NOT from VT and from NYC and has never held an actual job in his life.

Apparently, someone with no clue produced this video. Housing costs are not remotely what she says it is. For example, Shelburne houses for sale right now, there is one page of listings and houses are in excess of a million with the high over 8 million. Furthermore, none of the housing prices are no where near what she says they are...expect at least double. She doesn't mention the extremely high taxes either. FYI, places to rent are almost impossible to find. Want to store your belongings while you look for a home, better go to another state near Vermont.

Dont know who did research on this vid. You will need lots of money to pay for everything. Businesses are closing due to peeps not wanting to work at all or seniors retired early. The voice of this lady is irritating. Its boring in Vermont...no people and no opportunities. Drinking alcohol is a big fav here. Dont go to Burlington...people dying weekly. I live in Shelburne. High prices here. Grocery stores are north in S Burlington for better prices. Fancy restaurants closing. Montpelier is home to weirdos and Goddard College down the road. Dirty city. Run down. Williston is all shopping .... about the only place with big box stores. Burlington is setting up a pod city for homeless at the head of Church St. If you love meadows and green grass its all for you. Vermont is not a friendly state.

These people are ignorant virtue signaling that would file sexual assault charges against school children for using the wrong pronoun. Vermont has sunken to a new low.

This propaganda about Vermont is exhausting. Nice is relative and believe me there is much not to like about living in Vermont. Many people who move here leave because it is limiting and the harsh winters. The community interests center around yoga, composting, and virtue signaling. This extremely liberal, socialist state oppresses free speech. The school system has filed sexual assault charges against school children who fail to use correct pronouns and everyone who is not a democratic/socialist is labeled a hater and racist by default. With that being said, the forests are lovely.

Would you prefer a red/fascist state such as Mississippi, Alabama or Louisiana? You know, the Confederacy. How about Texas where you can make good money accusing Taxi drivers of offering abortion rides? I'm guessing you'll now tell me how Bernie Sanders single-handedly ruined Vermont.

@@douglasdea637 This is the 21st century. There is no more Confederacy. Get your facts straight. You are a perfect example of what I do not like about Vermont. My only question is, "Do you actually think young children should be charged with sexual harassment for not using another child's correct pronouns?" If you do, then Vermont is a perfect place for you.

@@CJ-gv6bq They were states of the Confederacy, kid. And the way conservatives love it so much and are talking about a second Civil War (you lost the first, don't know why you want a second try) it largely still is. Got a citation for that charge? I tired googling your crazy story and couldn't find one. And do you think taxi drivers should be fined $10,000 for delivering a person to a building? Well, yes, of course you do. Do you think teenagers should buy military hardware? Yes, you do. Do you think society should ban the teaching of history and arrest teachers for teaching it? Yes, you do. That is what conservatives want for America.

@CJ-gv6bq 2 жыл бұрын
@@douglasdea637 I have no idea what you are referencing. You still never answered my question. I know of no conservative that wants a civil war. Most concervatives I know are kind, older people, who are incapable of being cruel or harming anyone. You are consuming way to much corporate media and it is eating away at your a ability to think critically. So, do think children should be charged with sexual assault for not using the correct pronouns? This is a very simple question and has no bearing on your political affiliation.
