"la bûche" is a reference to the big (real wooden) log that was burnt all night long during the christmas eve in the past.

Mulled wine is drunk with canamom and extracts of oranges after a very good day of skiing or surfing in the Alps, Pyrenees, Massif Central, Jura ... 🏔🏂⛷😉 Le vin chaud se boit avec de la cannelle et des extraits d’oranges après une bonne journée de ski ou de surf. ☺️

The Advent calendar is a fun tradition. We love the chocolates. Le calendrier de l’Avent est une tradition amusante. On adore les chocolats. ^^ 🍫

I was in Strasbourg last Christmas and it was amazing! We didn't have any mulled wine... we had Starbucks (long story). But the city was amazing and the markets and decorations were fantastic. In fact, our Christmas card this year was a picture taken in Strasbourg. I miss not being there this Christmas. Hopefully, this will all be behind us next year and we'll be back to normal (whatever the new normal is). We almost went to Midnight Mass last year, but there was a hiccup and we couldn't go. We did that in the U.S. from the time I was 12 and it was always a beautiful service. Have a fantastic Christmas and New Year!

Ah that's awesome you've been to the Strasbourg Xmas market and had your Xmas picture from being there! Cool to hear you knew about some of these traditions I mentioned and hopefully learned about a couple more! Merry Christmas to you as well! I'm finally in the US with my family now and will future videos with new scenery to come soon ^^

i LOVE Christmas markets!! I was an assistant in Strasbourg, I chose there just because my mom's pen pal's sister was from there lol but I ended up living there for a year. The Christmas markets blew my mind and I ended up going to lots of them in that Alsace/Freiburg/Basel régions in France, Germany and Switzerland

C'est si différent d'une région à l'autre ! Dans le Nord, il existe aussi Saint-Nicolas en plus du père Noël - more in countryside or little cities - as soon as possible you should visit Lille - Look for "vieux lille" pics - and visit center of Bruxelles in Belgium (22 minutes train from Lille).

Hihi oui j'ai déjà visité Lille 3 ou 4 fois et Bruxelles 7 ou 8 fois ! J'aime bien ces deux jolies villes ! Cest dommage que j'ai pas commencé ma chaîne il y a quelques ans car j'aurais fait bcp plus de vidéos autour de la France dans tous les coins ! Mais faut que je re-visite tout ces endroits pour faire des nouvelles vidéos encore ^^

@@JordanPatrick J’ai vécu le décalage horaire PARIS NEW-YORK facilement à l’aller et au retour. Mais PARIS LOS-ANGELES, ça fait un gros décalage horaire. 😉 Bonnes vacances !

My Gosh Jordan! 😱 Tu as confondu Saint Nicolas et le Père Noël ! 🤣 Saint Nicolas est fêté le 6 décembre dans le nord et l'est de la France. C'est une tradition qui nous vient de la Belgique et aussi fêté en Allemagne et au Pays-Bas. Le 6 décembre Saint-Nicolas viens voir les petits-enfants et les récompense s'ils ont été sages tandis que le Père Fouettard les puni s'ils n'ont pas été sages. Le Père Noël lui descend par la cheminée apporter les cadeaux aux enfants dans la nuit du 24 au 25 décembre.

Il n'a rien confondu du tout : Saint Nicolas est bel et bien le père Noël (en anglais : Santa Claus, diminutif de Nickolas). Personnage historique, évêque de Myre, qui a vécu aux alentours de l'an 300. Je ne sais absolument pas comment on a fini par croire que les deux personnages Saint Nicolas et Père Noël étaient différents, mais je soupçonne que Coca Cola n'y est pas étranger. Tu parles de l'est de la France à raison : en Alsace, par tradition, saint Nicolas passe le 6 décembre, et celui qui apporte les cadeaux à Noël est l'enfant Jésus. Cette tradition s'est perdue. Aujourd'hui, c'est le père Noël.

Ah merci pour le point de vue du nord et le nord-est de la France... Je sais qu'il y a des traditions différentes dans plusieures régions. Je me suis trompé par rapport au 6 décembre (je savais pas l'importance de cette date) mais pour nous Saint Nicolas et le père Noël sont là même personne. On l'appelle aussi Old Saint Nick. 😅 Merci pour ton commentaire, j'ai appris quelque chose de nouveau et j'espère pour toi aussi ! Joyeux Noël ! 👍🏽

Your buche is.....an industrial one : go to an artisan baker please....more expensive but so much better and it helps les petits magasins of the city center !

Yes I agree, la qualité n'était pas "tipeu topeu" étant une bûche industrielle mais je l'ai croisé au hasard au supermarché le jour que je faisais cette vidéo et je me suis dit pk pas montrer cette dessert donc voilà... C'est vrai que ça aurait été vachement mieux si elle était artisanale !

Les 13 desserts est une tradition du sud : madame.lefigaro.fr/cuisine/quels-sont-les-13-desserts-provencaux-de-noel-191216-128698 Et la bûche est en fait une autre tradition. La bûche ne fait pas partie des 13 desserts.

Hey thanks! I visited Montreal a few years ago and got this bear at a hockey game I went to while I was there as a souvenir! It was a beautiful city and I loved it! Awesome to hear you enjoyed your time there too!
