I am a 61 year old black man. I’m light skinned and still I always thought I didn’t need sunblock. The Casper the friendly ghost white cast that sunscreens gave me helped solidify my decision not to wear it. I was diagnosed with skin cancer, the first time in 1990. It was treated with a mild dose of chemotherapy and went away. It came back aggressively on my face in 2001 and it spread to one of my kidneys. It was treated very aggressively and I really thought the chemo was going to take me out. I have been skin cancer free since 2002. God is so good. I use Black Girl Sunscreen Make it Matte Broad Spectrum SPF 45 ( I could care less about the name) every single day. No ghost face at all. Every single black dermatologist I have seen say we (black folks) need to wear sunscreen. The first time I went for chemo the second time it came back there were two other blacks getting treatment besides myself. I had just turned 30. One was an older black lady a brother closer to my age. She was light brown, but the brother was as dark as they come. Skin Cancer can affect anyone.

My family come in verities of colors of brown. Brown comes in various shades from light to dark-tan included-natural tan/beige that is, so it's even hard for me to find the right make up which I hate it because they end up only having three shades or two medium to dark which is BULL-why I'm very picky on brands meant for people of color vs. a white person whom sit in the sun and alter their natural white skin. People of color come in every color-even white. Very impressive even those whom are white are bi-racial.

He's probably just trolling or is looking for validation, he probably enjoys people saying he's not dark skin. I've met light skin black people who do this when they're around darker skin people too, it's like they're low key gloating. Example, like when a very skinny person hanging out with fat/obese people says "I'm so fat" so that they can get "but you're so skinny" "I wish I was as skinny as you" respond from actual fat people.

Try Aztex Healing Clay (with apple cider vinegar) on those spots. It helps for me. And to cut back on acne and hormonal outbreaks (cystic acne), which tend to leave scars try a change in diet, drink more water, and buy a whole lot of vitamin B5.

Use mild chemical exfoliants like BHAs, to help the skin resurface and make new skin. Also niacinamide is a very mild serum that renews skin, inspires new growth and tightens/minimizes pores. Also wearing sunscreen, our melanin responds to the sun and not so much evenly so whatever is dark will get darker in the sun and not so much even out. So as you lighten the darker sports with niacinamide and BHAs remember to protect it from darkening continuously with sunscreen. That’s what helped me. Hope I helped. Also, for more skincare help and info I watch a lot of BeautyWithin on KZfaq. They’re Asian but they cater to questions about all skin types and races.

Thanks doc…. Took notes ✍🏽 📝 1. Use sunscreen with avobenzone 2. Don’t use hydroquinone (could get ocrinosis/ dark patches) 3. Do use radio frequency and ultherapy (colorblind) treatments for skin tightening 4. Don’t do ablative laser or fractional ablative treatments to rejuvenate the skin (CO2 type treatments could cause light patches. 5. Can use Botox and fillers to get rid of wrinkles, fill in and plump. 6. Don’t recommend facial surgeries with high scarring rate 7. Be glad we have darker skin!! We age very well. 🥰
