Kuga, I've been to the highest train station in Europe. Have you been to the Northernmost train station? It's Narvik, Norway, 400 miles north of the Arctic Circle. If you haven't, do it. I did it in winter. Don't do that!

You have anticipated my arrival. I will be spending a week in Switzerland in August, staying in Interlaken while I take the same trips you took in the Jungfrau Valley and more. I won't be taking either the Bernina or Glacier Express, but I will take the other grand train, The Golden Pass, from Interlaken to Montreux on my way to France. Happy traveling in Italy.

I was in Zermatt around 25 years ago. I did a several days mountain trek of the Alps and climbed the Jungfrau mount proper, so far my only >4000 m peak. I didn't win the weather lottery either. No smartphones then, and I hadn't a photo camera with me, so no memento. It was nice remembering those times. By the way, everything is green because they have 11 months of winter and a month of summer.

It's not true that they don't carry out checks: since the Tirano railway station is also considered Swiss territory, there is a MONOPOLY AGENCY station (former customs agency sector) right before leaving the station. It is therefore always possible to undergo checks by officials of the Monopolies Agency or by soldiers of the Financial Police. As regards Switzerland, it is sufficient to fill in the appropriate prescription drawn up on the appropriate form which is then inserted into the dedicated box. A smartphone can also be used

I was brought up in the railways in South Australia. Trains are in my blood. I have seen many episodes of train journeys through Switzerland. Your photography, information, time taken to show the aqueduct from new angles and the trains going through. You are amazing. My favourite new word is isekai lol. I went to Switzerland once. I also went up on the train to Jungfrau. The most beautiful scenery I've ever seen! I was lucky when I was up there. It was a clear, sunny day. I was able to see the view all around up there

I did the journey from Interlaken to Grindelwald last October and it was stunningly beautiful. Unfortunately the weather wasn't good for the Jungfrau that day, but instead we did the Harder Kulm funicular back in Interlaken, which led to a stunning viewpoint overlooking the town of Interlaken and the lakes it sits between.

Absolutely worth the 2 year wait to see this epic video!!

Had the pleasure of staying in Interlaken (literally: 'between lakes' is the name lol) in 2014 and visiting both Grindelwald and Lauterbrunnen. What a stunning place that you simply never forget.

The interior of the Tirano railway station is considered Swiss territory. Therefore Swiss VAT is applied to tickets and souvenirs sold from the ticket office of the Tirano railway station. Furthermore, it is possible to send luggage from any railway station in Switzerland to the Tirano railway station without the need to fill in the usual customs declaration drawn up on the appropriate form. The Swiss internal rate is also applied to baggage sent to the Tirano train station

I have visited Lauterbrunnen a few times when touring Europe from the US West Coast between '84 and '17. It is one of those places most motorcoach tours do not visit often or at all, though I was not amused when a brochure of a tour I took in '82 focused on the Alpine countries showed a picture of Lauterbrunnen's church on the page describing my itinerary and even though they did not say it was a stop I thought the tour passed thru there--but the closest our motorcoach took us was a lunch stop in Interlaken as we traveled from our previous two night stop to Geneva, our next two night stop. The following year, planning a longer European tour, I bought a book about Switzerland and saw the same photo--on a page about Lauterbrunnen so I planned my own train tour from Luzern to there in '84, my first time there. I felt compelled to go there and having visited, living near Yosemite much of my life, I felt Lauterbrunnen was just as amazing minus the crowds of Yosemite, and Lauterbrunnen's waterfalls, especially their tallest, the incredible Staubbach falls, flow well into the summer whereas Yosemite's tallest waterfall can be dry (I discovered that also visiting Angel Falls in Venezuela on a break from a three week business trip). Your video is wonderful--I love the English captions. I have also visited Grindelwald and by motor coach, St. Moritz and much of the rest of Switzerland, but never took the Glacier Express. I did take three Eurail trips thru Europe between '87-'91 and took many side journeys in Switzerland visiting Bern, and Zurich, and I especially loved Bern. In all my visits to Europe, for me the most European city is Luzern in Switzerland because its old town is so well preserved, with its modern side on one side of the Reuss river, same side as the best train station I feel in all of Europe and its far older side on the other side of the Reuss. I find it so European because the hoteliers there alternate between French and German quite often because their Swiss guests are largely divided that way, with a small portion from Italy and the very rare small population of Romansh speaking Graubunden (Grisons).
