Honestly not upset about the lack of random gen on console not being there, since I'm sure navezgane is different than it was in A15 and the other pre-generated maps are basically new maps as well. They'll all keep me busy till it comes out. I'm absolutely stoked for this.

I personally think 7d2d is awesome but I'm not paying that just to get same game. I played PC version too but in my opinion the missions were not good, treasure hunts too easy and the perk system didn't need any effort. Would have been better if all the fun pimps did was fix the crashing issue and add extra perks (keeping the 30 points per stat), now that I would have paid for.

One of my most played games but these developers do not deserve a second payment for the same game because they couldn't release a game that was done from the start. This shit is absurd. Ps4 gets nothing but oh you can buy a ps5 then buy the game all over again. They are con artists who ill never give more money to.

How I’m interpreting the information posted by Vedui is like this: TFP has the rights back after the folding of Telltale. porting to console is not trivial, the memory management piece is the primary hurdle PCs can cache memory over runs to disk and push them back into RAM later. This is not a feature on consoles so you have to always stay below your memory limit or the game crashes. 7 Days to Die’s dynamic world means there could be a lot of stuff to hang on to in memory and the more play time spent in the world the larger the memory footprint of the active game state probably is Telltale must’ve sorted that out before they released the console versions i.e. after buying the license they had some C++ console devs doing some heavy lifting to port it TFP’s ownership of the license doesn’t grant them ownership of whatever work was done by Telltale for the console port so getting the license back didn't grant them access to the repo/source I think 7 Days to Die was built in unity. That means C#… C# has automated garbage collection… so it never forces you to manage your memory manually…. But on console you HAVE TO manage your memory manually and memory management is really tricky even for experienced devs finally, while the Xbox port will look very much like the PC source, the PlayStation architecture is radically different and outside of the memory management issue mentioned above, the PlayStation port is not trivial. If all you ever did was unity games you’re going to need to do a ton of homework to pull that off. Probably even hire some veterans. so with the assumption that 7 Days to Die (a game I adore) was made by a scrappy indie studio it makes sense why re-doing these console ports is a big ask for their team. Love you TFP, mad respect for your incredible work. Can't wait for the sequel :)

They need the new influx of cash from consoles. That’s why they are dropping it and then overhauling the game mechanics on the road map. It’s been seven years with no fucks given about console and the revenue from pc has slowed. So it’s not surprising that they’re coming back to console with an unfinished version to get the quick cash that it will bring. Not knocking them business is business but let’s not get it twisted. My question is what will they do when the game grows beyond the current consoles capabilities?

You going to compare dayz and minecraft to this game??!!! You cant build or completely change the world in those games like in 7 days. Modders make minecraft more playable jus like in 7 days. I love the changes the fun pimps have made over these past 10 years. Yea slow with output of updates but it hasnt stopped modders from creating content for this game keeping it fresh and relevant. I love resident evil games and other zombie horror games, but this game i love the most cause you can build and create your own base and explore, loot, and have fun with friends or random people if you create a server. Say what you want more people will play this game after console version gets its release.

Yeah the no mod support on console feels outdated, even more so when you see other PC games doing mods on console. Some PC devs feel like they just care very little for their console fanbase, although to be fair some console devs don't pat attention to PC needs either.

Vedui • 3y ago Oh gosh. Console. TFP have said as much why, and how, and the question unfortunately is part of why it's pervasive to ask, as TFP haven't in simple bullet points laid it out. TFP did not buy the console rights from Telltale. TFP SOLD the rights to Telltale. TFP is the creator. Telltale was the licensee. Telltale paid TFP for the rights to port, AND publish on Console. But telltale went bankrupt, and TFP stated that reverted the license rights to TFP. However, you can't publish a game with a license, you need to port it. All the ported code, all the publishing material, accounts, and what have you, were still property of Telltale (or whoever managed the winding down). So TFP can't do anything, unless they either buy all the ported code, publishing material and such, OR redevelop it themselves for console (ie, not that easy). Likely in the end they paid to get the console access, maybe publishing material, maybe even some porting code, but since they don't have console developers it's not helping as they'd rather re-develop for next-gen when 7dtd is "ready" and then make a proper 7dtd game... on next gen :) So, Telltale sold people the game. Telltale folded. End of story for current gen console, sadly. I would say TFP regrets not spending more time on the contract with Telltale possibly, to protect themselves in case of Telltale folding. Ie, maybe some clauses with all code/material in escrow accounts that would be given over to TFP in case of Telltale winding down, perhaps, something I've done in commercial software development in the past to protect against bankruptcy. Still the good news is TFP likely will make a 7dtd on next gen console, at some point. :)

The only thing i do not buy the 1.0 version on console, is the local split screen coop mulyplayer not been there. For me is that a major downgrade, takes away the fun and hart of the game.

Radio dial selectors are a disease that consoles have infected PC games with. So glad we have the 10 slots hotbar and not some disgusting dial. The UI is for PC and console people have to deal with it using their crippled control schemes. Better that than the other way round like in Skyrim without SkyUI.

I hope people enjoy it but this is still dead to me many years of Nothing for console and them not saying a single thing killed this game for me if it was a update even a paid update to the 7 days i bought years ago id play it
