Love it! Got an 05 FX4 extended cab, 6.5’ bed-ordered her from the factory. Do the timing chain, but most importantly have them check the roller-followers (rocker arms); they also have a loud tick, but if they fail they could blow your motor.

I just did this job this weekend on mine! I wish I would have done it sooner. Did chains, phasers, roller followers, high volume oil pump, plugs and coils.... It runs like a brand new truck.

Nice! I have a high volume oil pump and the timing kit on the shelf. I am in the middle of watching Fordtechmakuloko's videos on it and I am thinking my sound might include the roller followers... Thanks for the advice!

I would definitely replace the roller followers while you're in there. I gathered all the parts over time too. Just follow along with Brian's videos that your watching, bag and label your parts. It's not really a tough job you're just digging really deep in there. The hardest part is unplugging and disassembling everything. I do highly reccomend the follower tool and the crank tool. They made the job idiot proof for me. And have fun, it's a very rewarding job when you do that first start!

Everything was good. I bought a 2009 F-150 back in 2008 with 5 miles … 14 years later and 327,000 miles and it’s still good. I ws expecting to see some Katzkin on your seats.. other that that awesome stuff.

My 05’ 5.4 has a tick. It’s usually the exhaust manifolds that have rusted and have a pin hole in it. That’s usually where the noise comes from but if it comes from anywhere els it’s not good.

I have the 04 F150 5.4 xl 4 door no 4x4, and I love my 04 but I couldn’t pull my 24 foot Mako out of the boat ramp, so I kept my 04, but bought a 2020 f150 twin turbo all aluminum Lariat fx4 with a police package.

You want to run 5w30 oil in it instead of what Ford says and replace the oil pump when you do timing set with a high volume Melina’s brand pump and don’t use after market timing set you will regret it and inspect your rocker followers most on passenger side cuz lack of oil lubrication on bank 2.these are good mothers but they require some attention so they last a while.nice job and nice truck for its age

What engine? I have two 2004’s. One with the 4.6 and this one with the 5.4. I only get about 12 mpg out of the 5.4 sometimes worse. The 4.6 is on 37” tires and gets about the same.

Great video man. Did you have to use any splice in LED light hyper flash modules for the tail lights so they don’t hyper flash when the turn signal is on or did they have them built into the taillights already?

Nice video. I have the same truck as yours. Mines blue. Mine is leveled with 33x12.50 tires and after market wheels. A cold air intake and the exhaust is cut off. Mine has the grille similar to yours but instead of having Ford it has the rectangular slots. I need to do tail lights

Ya the tail lights have been sweet. Definitely helped modernize the whole truck. I think I’m just going to paint my wheels black for now and down the road maybe do 33’s. I have another F150 on 37’s so I’m trying to not make this one too crazy. What intake did you go with? I’m going to look into one soon.

I actually want to look into it. I painted my chrome ones black on my other 11th gen but I would be down to try and paint match just not sure how it holds up on chrome.

The tick is from the spark plugs. Make sure you take it to a good shop cause if it’s not done right they can break down in the motor.

The tick, especially when starting the truck from a cold start, is caused by the oil pump not pushing oil to the top of the engine " in time " and there is 2 timing chain bearings that the timing chains begin to " Grind/Tick " against due to the lack of lubrication. Once the engine starts running and lube circulates to the whole engine the " tick " fades. If there is still a faint tick after the engine has been running it is mody definitely the weak oil pump not pumping oil thru the engine. The timing chain kit itself it less than $300 in parts, the issue with replacing them is you basically have to take everything with a pulley connected to the serpentine must be taken off and you may have to take it to a timing chain specialist for it to be seat right once its put one. Between a $700-1,200 job if you take it to a Pro shop. And while you have all the pulleys off you might as well replace every part that has a pulley connected which is the power steering pump, the alternator , the crank pulley and idle tensioner pulleys because the pulleys are notorious for locking up and grinding at the belts.

I don't I put those on really quickly one day but I will try to make a video about it because I never installed them correctly lol so I need to get a bracket for them. But they are just some Amazon led lights and I just wired them to the factory fog light wires so they work with the oem switch.
