Steady Craftin videos are made with the help of DIRECT SUPPORT: www.patreon.com/steadycraftin (You'll also get access to the printable 3D scans of my original sculpted figures, MP3s, exclusive behind-the-scenes videos, shop discounts, and more.) as a professional product photographer of over 20 years, I can say this is one of the smartest and simplest solutions for a diy lightbox ever. ive used this and/or collapsible closthes hampers with freezer paper diffusers. well played, bro. more than the man, you're the craftsman.

I've never seen a light box made like this. Using a curved piece of white paper with a separate light diffuser always seemed like a pain to setup. This is so much easier.

That's why I like this one too - it's really really simple! (And you can get even more fancy by adding multiple lights... but so far, this works for me.)

So cool about the macro thing I didn't know you could pull off the same effect by holding your lens out in front like that. I need to get me one of those for my closeup shots.
@TheCrafsMan
@TheCrafsMan 7 жыл бұрын
The benefit of a macro spacer is that it keeps everything sealed and steady, but all they're really doing is adding space between your lens and the camera body. :) Thank you, as always, for the encouragement!

There's even a neat trick you can do to get SUPER close-up (very low depth of field though) by flipping the lens around. It's called reverse macro. photographylife.com/focal-length-in-reverse-lens-macro-technique

Also if you dont have a macro you can set the camera 3 feet away and zoom into the subject/ item. Works great ! Also use your timer function as to not create a slight vibration from pressing the shutter release button creating slight image distortion that is amplified in macro or zoom modes. Also if you dont have a trashcan you can use white paper as your backdrop. Just bend the paper like a half tube or half pipe. The shape should be like if you cut a tube in half long ways. This results like a miniature verson of a full model set pros use for shooting models for glammor magazine covers. Also always uses your camera flash but difuse it by holding or taping a thin white piece of paper over the flash. Please be careful with the light on the box. Dont leave unattended. Could smelt that plastic down and the rest up in flames. Common Sense. Another great video! Im a jewelry designer and do all my own photos. I have never tried this box style. I think it is very simple and genius . A plus on this great idea! Thanks crafsman!
