My husband would be happy, although I'm sure he would be happier not spending anything that is unnecessary. I just spent $1k co-hosting my sisters baby shower and I didn't realize how expensive it gets.

I TOTALLY agree with the date issue ...my hubby and I planned his military retirement , we ended up changing the location( excuses from others and I gave up arguing) what happened..my husband's family that took over (not our first choice) and what did they do???!!..INCLUDED my brother in laws birthday AT my husband's retirement , their excuse " well it's convenient" ...WORST MISTAKE EVER !
