I love this video! Anytime I'm having a bad day I just watch this and it reminds me that there is still adventure out there.

Can you PLEASE do a video on this setup, I have a little 8ft jon boat I wanna do this to any help on setting it up with parts and how to do it would be great!

Check out Jon's website at mudmotorkit.com. He has a video of how easy they are to put together. I'm pretty sure he's also the only one with a longtail small enough for that boat. Look at his mini kit.

Hope all is well after the recent rains. Austin RV was up to 35,000 cfs and Bastrop 50,000 cfs. Same as the 2013 halloween floods. Further down river got over 70,000 cfs. Lots of destruction. Can't wait to see what changes were made though. Will be like all new rivers.

Depends on which tail shaft I was running. The shaft options were 75 , 85 and 100 inches.

How does the prop hold up in the rocky shoals?
@TxLongshot2709 жыл бұрын
The regular props work well but I've been using a weedless that has thicker blades and an angle that deflects better.
@dbruce90359 жыл бұрын
TxLongshot270 That brings me to my next question. How well would that cut through thick hydrilla? That stuff can get pretty bad on the Lower Colorado sometimes.
@TxLongshot2709 жыл бұрын
dbruce9035 It cuts through hydrilla pretty easily. The weaker the plant fibers the better it does. Not as well as the larger true mud motors but as long as you keep the bushing wet it'll chug through it.
@studawg668 жыл бұрын
+TxLongshot270 Can you give a source for this weedless prop you are talking about? I have only used the ones that Jon sells on the website where I got my kit, but I run through lots of weeds and would love to hear more about this weedless you run now.

It is more stable for bow fishing and photography than the canoe, but only on still water. The canoe was without a doubt more stable when waves were present. I was going for was shallower draft, higher speeds and a more durable material when I upgraded to the metal 1432.

Thanks for the reply...I live in austin texas myself what river is that ? I am thinking on getting a 16ft flat with a set up like yours maybe a bigger engine. Im new to these type of motors and did not know they existed into I ran into your video..very budget friendly ;). for a brand new motor. The sps longtail kit did you purchase it from ebay?
@TxLongshot2709 жыл бұрын
SoN oFaBleepBlop Lower San Marcos. I put many hours on my longtails exploring Lake Austin. Lots of cool stuff tucked away where the wake boats can't go.Yes, for sure go with the larger kits. I would take the maximum power rating of the boat and build a longtail as close to that as possible.Yes, it is the SPS longtail sold by Jon Dobbs.
