I remember watching this one interview on KZfaq and the dude being interviewed brought up cigarettes and how, decades ago, they were just marketed as “the new cool thing to do” until they were revealed to have tons of negative effects on people’s health. And then he said “Between us, I think social media is our new cigarettes”. And that could not be any more true.

Idk what I am, I never really scroll, the longest i scrolled this month was maybe 15min, but i spend lots of time watching actual full length videos. Idc about skibidi toilet or whatever, I mainly just watch funny stuff and dont really get into arguments in the comments and never post anything. But still spend ages watching full length videos. Epic rant.

Honestly i used to be 6 during covid. I was a serious mess, extremely depressed thank god i stopped and had good support. Im now a combo of 3 and 4 and feel a lot better.

I’m probably a 3-4 but my main form of social media use is KZfaq, and I usually use KZfaq while I’m doing other things such as playing video games, doing homework, or working out. With video games it makes it so I can play an hour of video games and listen to an hour of KZfaq at the same time rather than that taking 2 hours to do. It helps to keep me not bored while doing my homework, and many people listen to music while they workout but I use KZfaq mainly while I workout

I am really gonna try and go without social media for atleast 3 days. I really want to try lower my social media screen time. This week, my screen time was 18 hrs. Way to high. I think I’m only gonna let myself watch social media 2 hours. And only play games for 1-2 hours. I want to get interested in books, get my grades up, learn how to handle certain social interactions, and, I want to get my health up. I don’t want to have to rely on social media for entertainment.

as someone on lv6 that spends 8-12h a day on social media, my main issue is that it‘s literally my only way of entertainment since i have no interests at all and would die of boredom without constantly being there. I wouldn‘t advise anyone to do that since it can melt your brain, ESPECIALLY with trends like Skibidi toilet

Well it wouldn't help you if you spend all of your time online. Explore new things. Maybe try learning yoyo tricks, draw, write, fly a kite, learn a new language or a subject (science, math, theology, art, etc). You could go bird watching, exercise (swim, walk in the park, rent a bike and cycle around...). Ask a friend if they'd like to hang out now and then. Go to the local library and look at the books, newspapers and CDs available there. Explore! ⭐

Honestly while I wasn't as bad as you (lvl 4), it's not as hard to get off as you think. Look at the constant scrolling being due to habit rather than interest and work on changing the habit. If you're not sure what to do otherwise, than try doing thinks like working out, going on walks, getting into miniature painting, playing some video games, reading a book, etc. If you're worried anything will be underestimating than try throwing on a podcast or music in the back ground. Most of the time I can only get myself to listen to my college's online lectures while doing something else like running. There is no shame in needing extra stimulation when it comes to doing things outside of pure social media, just try to find things that you think may be interesting and attempt to pursue them. You got this!

I would say on this ranking I’m like a 3. But I have a tragic story. One day in class I was reading the Iliad by Homer, and it was getting a little slow so looked around the room. EVERYONE was on their phones. In a room of 30 kids 29 were on their phones and one kid was reading. The only other kid I saw reading in their free time was a girl who is now one of my best friends. But out of all 1,500 kids only 2 read in their free time, let that sink in.

I don’t post at all on the usual social medias. I use Discord to talk to my friends and some strangers to show them what I made and will *maybe* muster up the courage to put it on Tumblr. KZfaq definitely consumes my time at school but I’m learning to strike a balance where I have the power to get out of it and work when I need to. I’m like, level 3-4 maybe.

I'm honestly glad I quit social media. It was just a massive waste of time. Like jesus christ when my friends start talking about some new internet trends my brain just turns the fuck off. I'm always the last one to find out about it and I need someone to explain it to me. I used to be addicted but I was wasting my life away and started using only KZfaq (not Shorts) and Discord and WhatsApp but that's more for communication purposes.
