Most of these feel kinda forced, but number 5 is acctually a great idea. Combine boxes with hindges and add pictures in, put them behind toys and figures as decor, or even family pics. Makes a nice frame.

Something else you can do is use wet erase markers on the clear plastic outer layer, and use them as a makeshift whiteboard. Don't use dry erase though - they're nearly permanent and will etch the clear vinyl.

Would be great to make up some of those with different things inside for the kids on long auto trips. Surprise them with a different one every few hours or so to keep them busy (and quiet) :-)

Could you tell me where you got that book-like DVD album? I have been doing the same thing to save space. I have been taking out the paper label, folding it not quite in half lengthwise, and taping across the bottom and a couple inches up the side to make a sleeve for the movies. Your way seems more compact. For me, I see many DVDs don't always say on the actual disc what the name of the movie is. I guess you could write on the dvd, lol

here's a cool idea, layer them like shingles on a project needing a roof like a play house or something. you can layer them this same way around a wire frame of a Christmas Tree and lights can fit nicely through the center holes with little effort.

is it safe to use Lysol wipes on DVD cases for cleaning the protective sleeve? i used it on Nintendo Gamecube Cases to get dirt off. i hope its not harmful

I think the movie collectors that throw away the original case and artwork and put their discs separately to a sleeve case like you just showed there deserve a special place in hell.

Just put them in the recycle bin.

None of these ideas works, they all have a ton of faults and are total rubbish. Obviously, half of the list is a variant on the "picture frame" idea. If I want a picture frame, the local Goodwill has a ton of them for cheap, mostly cast-offs when the local Target decides to purge their clearance selections every quarter. And using discarded DVD covers as children's wall hanging is truly ghetto. The LEGO idea is stupid. For starters, there are baseplates that will fit into the DVD case without you hacking a $13 regular baseplate from Walmart due to LEGO now utilizing more mini-plates than the bigger baseplates of yore as foundations of many sets as an obvious cost-cutting measure and expansion of ideas. Secondly, LEGO is a building toy; where are the bloody bricks? 3 mini-figs and a "ruined" baseplate isn't something that will keep a kid entertained; if you add the bricks, either they won't fit, or when its opened (like, in a car), it's gonna send the bricks flying all over the place and send the tots into crying fits of rage and bloody murder. The art setup truly looks like more of a PITA than it's worth. For the effort you do cutting up 15 discarded DVD cases cause the blade gashes the case a/or the poly cover instead of the disc holding area getting one perfect one, you could go to Walmart, buy a binder and get your grocery shopping done in that same time. Truly rubbish ideas.
