In the Rodrick Rules movie, when Rowley first enters Greg's house for a sleepover, Rodrick asks Greg if Rowley "knows about the D-O-R-E;" which is a nod to Rodrick's terrible spelling skills.

My personal theory about DOWK is that he might actually be writing in multiple journals at the same time, since if your timeline is correct, Big Shot would start Greg's 5th year in middle school. Usually there's only 3 years in middle school, but sometimes there's 4 for some districts, but 5 is really cutting it, so I think some of these journals must take place at the same time
