I was watching you on tv and decided to check my phone to comment. This is my first time of coming across your videos. Babe, your analysis is 100%. TRUTH.All what I heard from jobs to weather to divorce to loneliness to LGBTQ to everything is all false. Social media is something else, I had this fear when I was coming few years back. People tend to discourage others from coming. Thanks for saying the truth about Canada. Best experience and decision I made so far. Life is what you make of it and that is it. I pray Alberta favours you. I am in Alberta too. God bless you.

The boredom is more for people that are single. Also you'll still run out of places to go, you're still new and going to zoo.(Lol) Again, you'll still find out that going to Chinese restaurant or hangouts every time is quite expensive. (You may be loaded though) Even Canadians who have their grand parents born here are running away from Canada or migrate every fall, because of the boredom. Regarding jobs, before Covid there were jobs. After Covid, everything has gone to shambles because of bad leadership. Canada is not designed to make you rich. Its designed to give you stability. The only way you may attempt getting rich is through business. On the weather, people's cold threshold is different. People actually drop and die in severe weather, and the alerts for severe weather are often. Yes with good clothing you'll be fine, but some people do not have access to these good clothing, cars or proper heating at home. In a nutshell, only the rich and well prepared will land in Canada, and enjoy it. Again, you never see winter. For some 2 to 3 years now the winter has been mild. As for LGBT, it wont be in your face in Alberta. It is in our faces in Toronto. Alberta is very conservative. Alberta cannot give you a true impression of what life is like in Canada.

Loneliness is self imposed cos people want to associate with their tribal kindred. Explore being friends with people from different cultures. It's enriching. In UK I only have maybe two/three Zim friends. The rest are Nigerians, West Indians, White British whom I go out for lunch with now and again. Most of them are teachers in London. In UK I had Malaysian friends/colleagues from whom I learnt how to cook the Chinese meals. I was involved in church activities so much that I ended up being asked to do flowers for celebrations and weddings. I'd attended a Saturday classes on flower arranging. I'd also done cake decorating on Monday evening classes. I made friends there cos of our common interests . Once in a while I would teach ladies flower arranging at church in London. Now am retired and I do flower arrangement for weddings when I'm in Zim. I go to about 3 exhibitions even outside London where I meet people of similar interests. The list is endless. No time to get bored. Stay blessed.

On Career progression this might help someone: Here in Canada you need to, in a sense, apply for promotion within an organization. And show with metrics and certifications that you are qualified for the next level. So it's not a given or based on no of years in a company or based solely on your performance review. That's why it's common to see people in the same position for years. And on the cold weather I totally agree it's cold but there are right clothings and heating systems to cope with the cold; even though the weather has been pretty good this winter compared to other years.

I enjoy watching your vlogs and story telling, I have lived in UK for over 25 years it is what you make , people needs to learn to train their mindset that here we do things for for ourselves and yes you can be yourself but there are tones of activities to do , one just need to create time for themselves and people needs to learn that there ways to make friendship they don't need to be from your country as far you share common goals and , There so many African churches and English churches to attend one only need to choose which one is best for you. Single people really get bored in the West, as opposed to those in families. You may not realise it, but that genuine interaction with your kids and husband makes you not feel lonely. It is really difficult to make friends abroad even among diaspora Africans, because most relationships are not genuine or everyone is busy and probably don't live close to you.

Thanks for sharing dear Neze. It will be great to hear from you as time goes on to see if your perception changes. I live in the UK presently and the idea in those days is that Nigerians and other people from ethnic minority only have menial jobs and don't get to do proper jobs plus that we al live in council property but the reality is that any one can aspire to achieve whatever they put their mind to do and people own their own houses, cars, jobs, businesses...re train, get promoted etc ...of course they are still those looking for shortcuts ...hard work pays...people hustle legitimately and are doing well.

You are doing well! I spent most of my life abroad but have moved around quite a bit up until the past couple years. Abroad is what you make of it. We are in the US, and it’s really about forming your own community and circle. I think that’s what ppl say when they say they are lonely. Knowing there are people around who can come through for you, if it’s midnight and your child is sick, or you need help. Also it’s diff moving with a family versus single.

Remember, there's climate change and global warming, I'm in the US, and winter in the northeast of US could be scary in the last 5 yrs and Canada is colder. On divorce, check statistics and depend on your job that you'll get to know the reality of that. It's your personal opinion as you've said, others too may have their experiences/opinion at different times.

Hi Neze, I love your videos...they are always interesting and captivating. Just wanted to say something, I live in the United Kingdom and I have been here for 20 odd years; did my university studies here -- both undergrad and post. One thing I can say about migrating to the Western World is that it takes a good amount of time to integrate properly. So, getting a good job especially when you're coming from a developing country can be a bit iffy if you're not in the medical line: medicine, nursing, etc, or even IT. But it does help to get a job no matter how small it may seem, but as time goes on, the big job will definitely come especially if the person has the experience in the field they're trying to get into. It's all about patience! patience!! and patience!!

As someone who’s been here a while I can say this: 1. Loneliness is different for people who come here single vs married with their family. It’s not so easy to make friends at certain ages and depending on where you live, some people are not that friendly. Also, people tend to gravitate more towards families than single people especially within the Naija community. I always encourage people to sign up for activities at the community centers, join groups like Meetup where they can also meet other singles looking for community, and visit libraries and museums as there are activities that happen there as well. 2. Regarding the LGBT issue, Alberta is a quiet province though so it may not be prevalent there. Got to places in Ontario and Vancouver and you will see it blatantly in your face. 3. The issue of broken marriages is that a few people go out there with their own problems and project it on the whole society. Like you said, most marriages here are actually working because the society forces both the man and woman to plan and organize their family together. There’s no room for absentee fathers or mothers. Those who refuse to throw away bad behaviors from Naija are the ones that struggle the most. 4. With activities, I find most Africans and Nigerians tend to stay indoors a lot and then complain there are no activities. However, there are many things for people to do and then you go there and you’ll see maybe 1 or 2 black people. If it’s not an owambe or house party or joint-like scenario, they will mostly not be interested. 5. With the weather, it depends on where you are. Some places have constant terrible weather in January & February while places like Alberta enjoy the Chinook phenomenon. Also, the transport system is different in places so your experience with the cold and transportation will differ depending on where you are. Canadians immigrants mainly warn about the cold so that people come prepared for it.

What people find interesting differs, some people find it difficult to adjust to something different from what they have been used to, one thing I know after living in different countries across 3 continents is that create your excitement yourself, with that mentality you will make your environment work and that’s why I don’t like to live in cheap low cost of living cities, I always do the big cities in any country so I can have options, cos I know boredom can cause depression.

For me, when i joined my husband with our son, and later, i gave birth to our daughter. i never had that feeling of being lonely. That's the honest truth, because it i my husband and 2 kids family of 4, but unfortunately my husband passed away from colon cancer last year and i can now say it has been lonely and boring i will say. Most of the time, it is just me and my 5 years doing things to comfort each other. My son is 15 years old, and most of the time his in the basement playing video games or out for soccer practice so i can feel the pain of people saying about Canada being lonely. When my husband passed away, if it was african, you would have people staying with you, but here everyone is working, so it was just me and my kids. People come and go. by the look of things you have a big family so obviously you won't feel lonely. For the cold aspect, we thank God all over Canada. Winter is better last year and this year and also depends on the province you stay. Im happy you're enjoying your stay in Canada.

My first comment on your KZfaq channel. Just wanted to say that I enjoy your vlog. I have lived in the US , California to be specific for 35 years. I agree with all your experiences in Canada. However, I will say that there are opportunities for growth in jobs here in the US as well as Canada. You just need to be outstanding in what you do and take advantage of internal promotion exams or additional trainings. Again, I am your fan. I will happily host you if you come to the US😊

I think Alberta is very conservative compared to Ontario and BC. Glad your experience so far is positive and you are still enjoying the newness of everything. With respect to the job crisis, trust of everywhere in Canada. There is not much jobs there.

I highly recommend immigrants to open up there mind to change careers or go back to school to get a Canadian degree or even get some professional licensing. In as much as I believe it may not be easy at the beginning for some people, but career growth and promotions comes with being more intentional and smart.
