Have you read When Banana Was King by Leslie Goffe? It's a fantastic biography about a Jamaican banana magnate back in the late 19th-mid 20th century. A.C. Goffe's father was white but he could not pass. Nonetheless, he builds a massive empire in banana export between his parish in Jamaica and Baltimore, MD after having risen in the ranks of the largest agrobusiness of the time - United Fruit. He quit and started his own firm. The author is his grandson. What I gleaned from reading it was that there are no barriers if you know and believe in yourself. Confidence can make all the difference.

The book you are referring to , is it just called Basic Economics ? . There are so many in Amazon

brother Zeybiyahn There is only one 'Basic Economics' : A Citizen's Guide to the Economy by Thomas Sowell. There are several editions of 'Basic Economics', but it's the same book. It's baffling that this important book by this "black" economist, isn't prominent on his shelves let alone on his list. It's hard to take this guy's list serious.
