One of the biggest surprises of the European season so far has been Robert Lewandowksi’s dip in form. In his debut season at Barcelona, he was scoring goals and he led them to a La Liga title, but this season he’s been a shadow of his former self and has forgotten how to put the ball in the net. He’s out of form and isn’t playing well right now, I’m not gonna criticize his performances, my problem with him is the poor attitude he has displayed on the field and his inability to hold himself accountable for his shortcomings. All season long, he has complained about teammates not passing him the ball enough and points that down to Xavi’s tactics and every time he doesn’t get the pass that he wants he gets mad at his teammates when the reality is he’s not been in great positions, playing alongside technical wingers and midfielders, his off ball movement is very bad, he’s been sluggish with the ball at his feet loses possession a lot misplaced a lot of passes and he’s been responsible for a lot of the big chances that Barcelona have missed this season. It seems like the honeymoon with him is over as Xavi has subbed Robert Lewandowksi off in back to back La Liga games and no matter how he played, he hardly even got subbed off and given his age and poor form, his role in the team has been a massive topic of debate as some believe that he shouldn’t be starting for Barcelona and personally he shouldn’t start or finish every game for them and it felt like with how bad he was playing it seemed like Xavi was gonna leave him on the field for the entire game, he obviously has seen that the guy is nothing more than a passenger in the team because since he’s not scoring goals he’s not providing anything else for the team. With Leao its understandable. Ac Milan sold Tonali, their second best player last season. They lost Ibrahimovic too. Leao hasn’t had much service so far cause Ac Milan don’t really have attacking style midfielders. They don’t really have a good midfield, the only outstanding player in the midfield being Bennacer, who is a centre defensive midfielder. And Theo Hernandez has been horrible this season so he is also not getting much service on the left flank. And there aren’t very good strikers. Pulisic scores some and Giroud too, but nothing much more, lowering his assists.

AC Milan scoring has been more spread out this year. Leao’s goals haven’t been the best, but he he still has 5 assists this season.. which is tied for 4th in the league currently. The recent acquisitions for Milan have been good as well. Last year Leao had to be a goalscorer, because the only other player capable was Giroud… they also let go of Tonali which really messed with the play creation of the team. Milan went all in on CDK last season, which was a bust for them, and Raph had to step in to score.. there are a great deal of factors that changed the dynamic
