The one teen that seized should be checked for photosensitive epilepsy. If I just hear faint rumblings in the distance, it's dark glasses on, head for bedroom, and draw the block out curtains. 2 months ago I had a grand mal seizure from a freak lighting in sunshine and woke up lying on my kitchen floor, where the flash glare came through the kitchen window, surrounded by EMS. My 12 yr old was a champion and called emergency services.

I have my polarized prescription glasses on 90% of the time, even if there is not a lighting issue because the sun can cause it, especially with going in and out of shade in a vehicle.

I have it too. I wear the full eye covering glasses that are black for the daytime and orange for night time. I can't look at the police cars when they it's flashing their blue lights especially during the night. My Neurologist said that it's hyper photo sensitivity. I even have to take medications for it.

I would check blood for signs of burning. It could cause a seizure and may not present outwardly immediately or at all.

I have been in those mountains south of Salina during a major thunderstorm. I was with my father in the high elevations (nearly top of a peak) It's no joke that those storms move in so fast and you have to get safe ASAP. We huddled in some bushes for over and hour to NOT be the tallest thing around - there were a few trees. I'm 50 and I still have anxiety being outside when a thunderstorm rolls in. Be safe.

A friend of mine was hit by lightening while riding a dirt bike. It effected him and he now has a speech impediment, but overall, he's lucky to be alive. Thank goodness none of these kids were hit directly. The outcome could have been much worse.

I was in a similar situation over 40 years ago. I was at a church camp as a young teenager. I got a "splash over" hit on my hand when lightning struck a church bell. After that, I realized that while I was having fun, I had not been focusing on the messages and learning how they related to me. Over the years I have used this story as a testament to how God can make you realize your errors.

I'm shocked to see how many adults are mocking literal children because of differences in beliefs. If you feel inclined to mock, harass, or belittle children because they believe something you do not, it's a good sign you need to check your priorities.

Although it may be scary to this group of kids, it's something they will never forget. I've been a victim to lightning strikes in my lifetime, which is crazy since 1 out of 15k people will be struck by lightning and 1 out of 9 million will they get struck by lightning twice. I was jogging on a clear blue sky day and out of nowhere I was out like a lightbulb. I was jogging in Big Cottonwood Canyon when it happened. Luckily a good Samaritan took me to the hospital where I was treated back to health. I have a scar on my head and I have a constant ringing in my left ear from the incident. My second time being hit was during a real storm. My family and I were watching TV when we saw the flash and no more than 2 seconds later the boom of thunder. At first I didn't realize that I was hit until my left arm started hurting like mad and it was shaking like an earthquake. Lightning had hit our house, went down the chimney, to the fireplace and struck me, since I was next to it. I have another lovely scar on my arm and if you do a connect the dots, it forms a lightning bolt on my birthmark. Lightning is both beautiful and deadly. I respect it a lot and will never forget my awesome and scary experience from it.

Just because you’re apart of a church does not mean you know or truly understand god…. Most of America isn’t really connected spiritually to god but y’all think you are because you claim a religion and go to church….. that means nothing. Because most stuff they teach is a lie and most white churches don’t actually worship god they just say they do. The person they worship god knows who that person really is. Maybe that’s why he hit them with a strike. And comments like this my guy yea good luck 😌😭😭😭. I can tell you don’t know anything about god fr. You probably think it’s only the Bible and that’s it. 🤡

@shawnhuff3920 "Lighting goes from the ground up .. not from the sky down 😂" False. It actually goes from the sky down. A majority of strikes stay in the atmosphere. It is rare for them to strike the ground but, when they do, they get trapped in the ground, at a certain point of it, for a time being bounced around indefinitely between various points of the ground because of materials at those points that are able to conduct electricity and then the strikes will eventually exit the ground by being bounced out at some angle (usually straight up) when they have a sufficient enough in ground trajectory to come out of the ground and thus we get "ground-effect lightning". But no, lightning doesn't originate from the ground. It can just erupt from after entering the ground from the sky.

I wonder if the braces had any part in it? All those girls had more wire in their mouths than a transistor radio. Cute kids. AS I've heard it told... climbing some rocks like El Capitan can get ya zapped into a slow-cooked rib and those girls were on a muddy, wet trail. All in all, they were lucky.
