How about the fact that shes one of the few pop stars of recent memory who writes her own music? The last femaes phenom I can think of that ACTUALLY did that are Taylor Swift, Amy Winehouse, and Fiona apple. 99% of popstars are SOLD songs and perform them. There is something weird about the fact that 40 year old men are able to write songs that teenage girls identify with. Adele, also comes to mind, on her first album, mostly wrote everything herself but on her newest she had a lot of co-writers. Taylor used to almost exclusively write her own songs but a few of her recent hits have been co-written with others. Amy definitely wrote all of her own songs completely by herself for her entire short career (If you haven't heard Back in Black and have ONLY heard Rehab... you really need to give it a try, it will blow your fucking mind). Fiona Apples career is ridiculously amazing and, like Amy, she EXCLUSIVELY writes her own music. Her first album she was Lordes age so shes the closest comparison, age-wise, I can think of. She got backlash in those days for being young but shes aged like a fucking fine-wine. Just go look at metacritic for her most recent album "The Idler Wheel" ... it's not so much pop but if you like ridiculously well written music you absolutely need to hear it. Her most listenable album though is her second album "When the Pawn." Mind blowing and you don't have to like indie music to get into it. So yeah, Amy Winehouse, Fiona, and Lorde are the only two that I can think of in recent years that are super big that wrote the songs that you hear THEMSELVES. .. and considering she wasn't even 17 yet that is MIND BLOWING. This doesn't happen often folks.

It kind of depresses me that people literally don't give a crap about anything but the two girls in the video. I didn't find them annoying the slightest? Sure they sounded a little too forced, but... They could be nice people in real life and there's a bunch of people giving them hate on the Internet? Just focus on the facts about Lorde and stop complaining, geez.

Pure Heroine hit the scene much like Jagged Little Pill did years ago. New, Fresh, original, and not a part two of everything else being released by labels. These are the performers I wait for, and they don't need the "Music Media" to approve them. 354 concerts in 54 years including Zeppelin, Eric Burden, Devo, and Nirvana. But I will take originals from Lorde, Foster The People, Alabama Shakes, and even Megan Trainer over the crap from Justin, Miley, and so many others that keep repeating the same music that they didn't invent. We don't even have college in new Zealand the way the Americans do. We have kindergarten 4-5 years, primary year 1-6, intermediate year 7-8, highschool/college (its the same here) year 9-13, university. If she's 17 she would probably be in year 12/13 and would have enough qualifications if she wanted to go to university (in new Zealand)
