In my experience extension manager is way better then extension because you cen install extensions from the app itself and also it shows which extensions your system supports unlike extension webpage which can save you a lot time. Otherwise great video, you are the best ☺️

@Aditya Wagh I mean, it finds the fastest mirror, but it does not mean its the best. With this setting set to true the only thing that will be taken for measurement is http response, while Fedora's mirror manager will determine the best mirrors based on a set of fallback heuristics

I got to thank you for these videos, I've recently decided to try out Fedora Linux as my primary Linux distribution on an old laptop and so far so good, I haven't used a Red Hat-inspired Linux since Red Hat 6.2 (which was like 2 decades ago). The only issue I've had coming from Ubuntu was that dnf is missing a feature that apt has, which is auto completion when typing in the name of an app that I want to install.

Fedora was bound to have newer packages in general (especially Gnome, Mesa, LLVMPipe), default Wayland on everything (where appropriate), latest kernel, more GTK4 apps than Ubuntu, Secure Boot support. A better all around base to work with than Ubuntu in general. The community's opinion is that Fedora has been *outstanding* since at least Fedora 33 and F36 only made it better.

Thanks for the helpful post-install guide. I have used Debian and Ubuntu for years and this is the first time trying Fedora. Overall impression of Fedora is that it is unstable: Discover crashes after activating Flatpak and cannot be started any more. Only uninstalling Flatpak restores Discover functionality. About 20 recurring system crashes within the first hour: kernel-core, fwupd, and others. No backtrace and no solutions found. Overall unusable unless these crashes can be fixed.

Don't use the fastestmirror option. It is harmful. It tries to connect to the mirror with the lowest Ping but that says nothing about actual bandwidth or package availability. The default without this option is an ordered mirror list sorted by bandwidth and package availability and geolocation, which is generated server-side by Fedora to ensure that you get the latest packages from good mirrors. You get better results without this option.

Hi there. A lot thanks to this tutorial! This really helps! But what occurred to me was that since I got Fedora 36 installed on my 2018 machine, I found that the audio on my local disk has no problem whereas that on my web browser is driving me crazy. I constanly hear the background noise, which was like beep-beep-beep, like high-pitched firecrackers. I searched all over the Internet. Then I found the multi-media codecs in this video. But after I did like you do, this situation is no difference than before. Forgive me for my abruptness and ignorance since I just started studying computer science and I just get to know something about the hardware and the system stuff. I would really appreciate it if you could give me some guidance or directions of where I can find the solution. Thank buddy, keep on going. I love your channel and the way you explain things. That really helps. I wouldn't be in such a abruptness if I were not desperate by my situation.

Thanks for great info. I use Linux desktop as my daily drive for work on several PCs and laptops. The new Fedora looks very nice and is very fast! I did try it out and first impression is very good BUT... there is huge but :) Some must-have aps for me are not working... Viber, Dropbox (no way to use selective sync and no dropbox deamon ?), Black Magic Resolve Davinci, Google Music app, Timeshift backup not available at all... Beside Davinci all apps are quite basic and should work. All of those works flawless, incl. Davinci, on KDE Neon, which is still the best distro I even tried (=most compatible with any hardware, most app compatible, most stable)! I love the looks and feeling of Fedora but it's still an "experiment"...

DNF defaulting to "no" is just insane; having to hit two keys to say yes when 99% of the time yes is what you want just makes no sense. If I didn't want to perform the updates I wouldn't have run the DNF command in the first place! The option to switch the default to "yes" is a must. DNF actually downloads three packages at a time by default which is nice, but cranking that up to five or ten could be handy for today's Internet speeds. I'm not entirely sure if the fastest mirror option is beneficial though... the man page says that the mirror list is already generated for speed, and this option bypasses that.
