Tifa Lockhart is a pretty badass chick. She's appeared as one of the main characters in the Compilation of Final Fantasy 7, but there have also been ton of cameo appearances in games like World of Final Fantasy, Ehrgeiz and Kingdom Hearts!
For this video, we wanted to run-through some interesting facts relating to Tifa, with some focussed around her creation, while others relating to things like the fact she owned a cat and her strange relationship with Rude!

They really struck gold with Tifa's character, there's something extremely appealing about a beautiful badass female monk, who's effortlessly attractive but also has contrasting shy, kind and sweet nature, and also saves the hero's ass a lot. And to think it all came from a very late reactionery decision of needing a heroine who would stay with the hero after first heroine's death, and how this decision resulted in such a great love story between Cloud and Tifa.

Tifa is one of the best characters in FF history. She's so important to the plot of FF7, without her Cloud would have no motivation for any of the things he does.

Tifa is *DEFINITELY* one of my favorite heroines in any RPGs of all time. What strikes me so much about her is not only was sheca last minute addition to the cast, but one who was *SUPER* important to the narrative and Cloud in a much more subtle way than Aerith. It was great!

Honestly, I just love Tifa so much. A great deal for that is because she reminds me of my mom. My mom went through so much her entire life especially during her childhood and teenage years, but still she’s so gentle. I’m so blessed to have her. Yes, Aerith is a good character, a very well developed female character especially for the time. But Tifa is just so special.

Well I hope they will at least acknowledge it in some form like an alternative costiume in FF7R. This is without a doub a #1 thing that Tifa cosplayers get wrong, and exaggerate her cleavage. Totally miss how important it is to remember about her scar.

Well, in JRPGs characters only get scars if it looks cool. Like Zack has a weird cross-scar on his cheek but as far as I'm aware, it's never revealed how he got it. But Tifa who gets slashed from hip to shoulder gets no visible proof of ever getting nearly killed? Nope, no scars anywhere.

It may be explained that she was able to be healed externally before it could do too much physical damage. (Potions or healing spells) Though why Tifa could survive but Aerith couldnt I'll never get. Couldnt yuffie be the one to die.

If they were trying to make tifa and aerith balanced, they didnt do a good job..cause Tifa is clearly the one who has the biggest connection and impact on him as a character in the game...while Aerith was a caring friend who died, it affected pretty much everyone in the group, not just Cloud, and so it muddled any balance there could have been, including Tifa being the only one who can logically be there for Cloud at the end in the highwind scene among others like the lifestream, arguably the most important scene for the two of them and in general in the entire game

It was aerith who gave him the urge to look forward to life. tifa was busy with avalanche. aerith was... the positive side. she helped cloud enjoy life even if the going gets tough. she made him smile and smell the flowers, she made him realize his feelings. her openness made Cloud open up to the world. Tifa did not do that early on as she was suspicious of Cloud (remember she had suspicions as cloud has memories of events she though Cloud wasn't there)

@@lonerevenant I'm a Tifa fangirl but Alvine is right; in a way. She did all of that but not just for Cloud. She did it for all of them because that was just who she was. That's why her death had an impact - even on Tifa. Tifa considered Aerith to be a very good friend and was one of the saddest ones over her death, talking about Aerith highly over her optimism for the future.

Yeah, I realize this comment thread is 9 months old, but Cloud was a full blown sociopath before he met Aerissssstthhhh. Tifa tries to flirt with him before he falls into the church and it doesn't even affect him. He meets Aerissssstthhhh and her mom, and his heart melts a little.

Tifa could easy be a b**** to Cloud of him being so insensitive to her and being so hung up with Aerith. But no. Tifa chose to be a better person and still support the man she loves. She harbors no jealousy against Aerith nor does she reprimands Cloud about it. She's just a best WAIFU material that I can't believe Cloud can't see it from a mile away.

Cloud lost his memories after the moment of zack's death, cloud believed that the soldier zack who wants to become a mercenary is cloud himself, I think because zack gave his buster sword to him before he died and saying "you are my living legacy". thats why he's having a hard time remembering his promise with tifa.

It's not better or worse, they are just different. Dissidia 012 splitted in two: action for NT and RPG for Opera Omnia (with both of them inheriting the original concept of the Dissidia series, team-based action, since the PSP hardware couldn't handle it, thus making the PSP Dissidias failures, development like.)

I never thought that Rude have an interest to Tifa. Thanks to this video I know now. I wonder what the expression of Rude when he saw Tifa is unconscious with Cloud in the church (in The FFVII movies AC & ACC). Also I think Rude is happy to carry Tifa (to bring to the bar) and Reno is suffering to carry Cloud . XD Anyways, great video Daryll keep up the good work. Yes and no. She was created when the developers decided to kill off Aerith mid-game, but they tried to be as ambiguous as possible so that the player could fill in their own holes about what Cloud's romantic interests really were. Throughout the entire canonical existence of Tifa, we see this in her relationship with Cloud. Post-FF7, they stay together after the group splits up but aren't "officially" together. They even raise a family, but the kids aren't actually their own. We saw in Advent Children that they sleep in the same room, but in separate beds. It's all to keep everything ambiguous.

If she doesnt get in it will possibly be my biggest gaming disappointment (yeah seriously). I never thought NT would exist but back when I was playing Duodecim I thought damn this would be so good if it was on home consoles with a decent battle system (i.e some thought given to having a semblance of balance) and they did it but didnt put in the only character I really wanted. Dropped Dissidia after 10 hours due to horrible combat played Duodecim for over 120 due to Tifas inclusion. On about 110 for NT atm but would be playing it near non stop if Tifa was in. I just hope they dont drop support for home consoles and we get a second season as arcades are almost certain to add her at some point I just hope the rest of us outside Japan get a chance to play as her as well. Didnt know about her cat so thats a new one for me.

@Eric, The Demon Hunter You obviously haven't read the ffvii ultimania omega or the ffvii dismantled books. There it is stated many times that Aerith loves Cloud for who he really is and that she loves him much more than Zack. Also Cloud was always his true self. He never became Zack, he just mixed some of his own memories with Zack's memories and mostly about events including Shinra and SOLDIER. Zack x Aerith IS canon but only during the events of crisis core.

Something I thought while editing this with the Aerith/Tifa fact... Tifa was cut from the front by Sephiroth and lived, Aerith was stabbed in the back and died. Aerith was smiling, Tifa was upset. Just some food for thought.

That’s interesting indeed, but I just can’t help but think it is just happenstance. If there is a deeper meaning to it the only one I can think of is just yin and yang of the two love interests. I do love hidden messages and meanings in things like this and would be interested in what you or anyone else might think of this. Cool and good find. Props.

It's because Aerith knew what was going to happen to her. She was smiling because she took her place in the lifestream as it's protector. Quite a different role from Tifa who wants to live for Cloud and doesn't have a destiny with death.

No.7 wasn't quite right. In the most recent ultimania interview,Kitase & Nojima stated that the original plan was for every party members to die during return to midgar except for 3 members, but Nomura suggested them to just kill off one,which turns out to be Aerith

Tifa is great. Boy or girl, I have seriously never come across ANYONE that hates her. I'm sure they're out there, but the ratio is much more in her favor than with other characters it seems. She is a strong female character done right in every way.

Another fact about FFVII in relation to year of release was that Foo Fighters' Colour and the Shape was released the same year as FFVII was on PlayStation. I often correlate the Airship scene on Disc 3 between Cloud and Tifa with the song February Stars, and Up in Arms with their relationship. If you haven't heard either of these two songs, you should, they're both great songs. Anyway, with that out of the way, and speaking of Lara Croft, I've often heard the comparison of the two being something like "Tifa's like Lara, only that she kills enemies with her fists and clunky, heavy boots instead of a pair of glock forty-fives." lol Now imagine Tifa with a pair of glocks and a pair of Ray-Bans...yeah. I'd rather imagine Tifa in leather ala Joan Jett, and Jett's red lips, on stage belting out Hard Rock lyrics through a old and busted-ass wannabe professional microphone at her bar, playing an awesome Gibson guitar. lol (hey, a girl can dream, can't she?)

Amy Carter, I will check out those songs. Tifa using fists over guns seems to be more effective. Barrett shoots 50 bullets before doing the damage of a few punches from her.

The idea that they were going to only have 3 characters in Final Fantasy 7 when they were coming off Final Fantasy 6 which had 10 regular characters, 4 secret/optional characters and 14-15 temporary characters is pretty insane.

Tifa Lockhart is the symbol of women's equality and feminism. She is the main reason why Cloud is just as popular as her in FF7. She is quite a female version of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, due to how popular and charismatic she is.

Something I wasn't a fan of was just how much Cloud gravitates toward Aerith up til her death regardless of who you go on the Golden Saucer date with. Yes, if you got high enough points with Tifa, Cloud and her bang, but that's long after Aerith's death. It seemed like an afterthought after remembering you have options for the date. Hoping they fix that in the remake.

Tifa Lockhart is one of the only female characters from games that i clearly remember, her fighting style was always better because she really didn't require a weapon if it was a real life fight. Plus her eyes and tiny shorts were sexy sexy hahah

Chances are for the cat I wouldn't be surprised if the devs would have named tifas kitty hikari (light) as like a further emphasis on tifa representing light.
