The first time my friend played Skyrim and told me that he beat it. He asked me what else there was to do once the Civil War was finished. I told him that wasn't the main quest. He didn't know what to think. Never had he played a game with side quests that large.

7 Times beating a game on the hardest difficulty wasn’t the hardest trophy to get.

Nier: Automata, it was kind of expected for anyone who had played other Drakengard games, or the original Nier, but the whole 5 real endings thing was pretty cool and unexpected. Especially how everything led you to believe the game was all about 2B, and that the first ending was pretty much the whole game.

You know I'd got so many games to play and such little time that I kind of hope for the game to end quickly LOL...unless it's a Naughty Dog in which case I don't ever want it to stop.

Castlevania Symphony of the Night. You explore the entire castle, collect all the weapons and armor, beat all the bosses, get to the final boss, beat him and get the bad ending. And the only way to get the good ending is equiping an item you dont even know exists, attack a floating ball that you can only see with said item and then go through the entire castle again, only this time upside down and harder, beat more bosses, beat the "real" final boss, beat the REAL final boss and only then can you get the REAL ending. Its a great game but holy____ is it convoluted.

Good list. Nier: Automata could have also been on it, since it does the fake end thing twice. The Witcher 3 also sort of does this, as I was fully expecting the Battle of Kaer Morhen to be the final battle since there was all the build up going on.

Far Cry 3, where they build a relationship with vaz. And then you kill him and you are like: "well, thats the game. Good one Ubisoft." Well, here's another island for you and you are only halfway through the game :)

Dragon's Dogma could have qualified for this list. Both the main game and the Dark Arisen expansion.

Okami was one of these games i just knew i would love, but never got around to play, cause the shelf is a such nice place to just let games stay forever But got it on the ps4 some days ago, and finally played and finished it. btw i was right, i loved it!.

Honorable mention for _The Legend of Dragoon_ when you fight Emperor Doel at the end of Disc 1. . . . Remember the days of multi-disc RPGs?

When i saw the name of the feature the first game to come to mind was dragon quest 8. You forgot to mention the part where when you finaly beat the last boss and the credits end you see a cutsceen of a monolith flashing. Then when you continue your team mentions they all had the same dream. And another story opens up where you get to find out where you were born, why you were the only one not effected by curses, and long story short you get an even happyer ending. Watching prince charmless cry when you get to marry the princess instead of him was blissfull.

MGSV had the opposite effect on me "Oh wow I'm so invested I wonder what's gonna happen ne- oh it's finished..."

I feel silly for it now, but I remember thinking I was done with Resident Evil 3 when I repaired the clock tower bell. Then, Nemesis blows up the rescue chopper with a rocket. Blew my mind at the time.

What about *Castlevania: Symphony of the Night* ?! I thought I had beaten the game (one of the first Playstation games I've had next to FF VII and Dynasty Warriors). I was a little bit disapointed that Shaft was the "final boss". Somehow about a year after I had "beaten" the game, I came back to it (I think it bugged me that I haven't had found all the hidden areas of the map) and found out that there's a whole other (well, inverted) castle to explore!!! Also: *Nier: Automata* !!! Is it over? - No! Play it again! Is it over now? - No!! Play it again!! But now, now it's over, right?! - NO!!! PLAY IT AGAIN!!! Now? - Play it again and AGAIN AND again aNd AgAiN and...

Dark souls when I got to anor londo: "this is the last area, for sure!". Here's the other half of the game 😅

Tales of Symphonia pulled this twice in the same game

World of Final Fantasy. Ask Hollie if you want details, it’s pretty cool so I’m not gonna spoil it.

Any Tales games but two in particular: Tales of Zesteria - where during the final dungeon they always do a huge "This is the final battle" speech only to find out you still have another 10 rooms to go through, theeeen repeat. Tales of Graces F - where you finish the game only to find out there's even an after story that follows straight after the final battle.

Hahahahaha nice MG Stupid easter egg there... took a long time Dave... HA! I would give an honorable mention to freaking Liquid Snake. "It's not over yet!". And he did that for three whole games of the franchise... man!

Bayonetta. Once you kill Father Balder, you send Cereza home, Bayonetta and Luka have the silent 'I love you, you love me too' moment in the sunset, everything is wrapped up. Except nope. Father Balder survived getting shot through the head, somehow, and you have to motorbike your way up a statue, and fight a literal goddess. Then after you beat her, by summoning the Queen of Inferno and falcon punch her soul into the sun, you're on the crumbling body. The credits start to roll. Somber music starts to play. Except nope. Jeanne shows you exactly what she thinks of your expectations of the game ending, and you have to destroy the body while flying in space now. After this happens, it seems Bayonetta died. Everyone came for the funeral, Luka brought rosemary flowers, everyone is sad. Except nope. Angels come, Bayonetta pops out of the casket, and you kill loads of angels and replay various parts of the game during the credits. NOW, the credits have rolled, you have a 'The End' moment, everything is over. Except nope. You get a mega sexy 4 minute dance from Bayonetta to amazing, jumpy music.

wanted to play okami on ps2 back in the day but my backlog of ps2, gamecube, og xbox, pc, gba, and ds games prevented me from doing so. Bought the hd version last year on ps3 for like $5 and never played it. (backlog ofc) bought okami hd on ps4 and I haven't even cracked the seal. Same thing with DQ8 on ps2 and nintendo 3ds, best game I never finished. Well at least I beat MGS 1,3,4 , & 5, FF6, and Red Dead Redemption. (hell I even beat Red Dead Revolver on ps2)

Also, the game sets up the damn prime minister that ruined your life as the final boss, then it was like HA NO THE TWISTED DESIRES OF THE GENERAL POPULACE IN THE FORM OF A GIANT CHALICE IS THE FINAL BOSS and then the game was liKE NO THE FINAL BOSS IS THE GNOSTIC GOD OF CREATION AND ORDER!

How about Kid Icarus: Uprising? You've just beaten Medusa with the sacred gear only reserved for the biggest baddies, when Hades just rips through the end credits like "Waddup Pit? You gotta fight ME now!"

BioShock Infinite kind of did the same thing. Kill comstock in, not a fight, but a very dramatic and surprisingly satisfying way. Now do a "Defend the point" segment so you can be even more confused and have your "What the hell?" vibe turned up to 11 once you get to the ending.

Final Fantasy XIII. Here I was, thinking killing Dysley on the Palamecia was it, but as it turns out... Barthandelus: "Ease is not the issue. You have not fought to win." Me: *blinking man gif*

Metal Gear Solid 4, you beat the boss, have a finale cut-scene, think it's done and then there's like 40 more minutes of cut-scenes, then the credits roll and you're feeling good, but then it's like here have one more 30 minute cut-scene that explains everything in the series. (For the record . . . I loved every bit of this process)

Final Fantasy VII of course. I had climbed the rim of the northern crater, was descending down the inside rim psyching myself up for confronting Sephiroth when I went... 'durr... I'm still only on disc 1!'

Alien Isolation should be on this list. Several times I thought "this must be the end now" - Nope. Not even half way. By the end I just didn't believe it until the credits. It got me so many times. And then I still had the DLC to play through!

Not sure which one but I think it was Hitman: Blood Money where, for the final level, you were at 47's funeral and the credits rolled. You had to move the sticks to wake him up and then kill the last target. But if you did nothing the game would just end normally. That is still one of my favorite uses of that technique.
