K 9 Poodle I always thought the same but I kind of understand what Marston did afterwards, if Marston somehow killed all the agents and manage to run away, the law would just send more people to find him, which would put his life in an endless time loop of run from law enforcers, killing them, and running again, John wanted his wife and son to live normal lifes, and he knew the only way to do it was by sacrificing himself. At least that's how I interpretate RDR ending, idk if your comment came before RDR 2 launch, but it really helped me understand why Marston sacrificed himself, basically both games comes down to what Arthur said, "Revenge is a luxury we can't afford to have"
