I'm disturbed by the man who doesn't feel any guilt about Ms Annie's murder. She told you she was afraid of him! You hired a complete stranger without a criminal background check. And You even signs of this mans attitude being diminished and told directly she was scared. What kind of man are you? You sent death to that poor woman's door. You should feel shame and guilt.

My 80yo Grannie ever tells me someone “scares her” and tog best believe that person isn’t going back to her home and my ass will be there the next day (or Monday in this case) to make sure we’re clear and she’s safe! She doesn’t answer a whole day nor the next morning and my call to the police is made while I’m driving over there. I guess some families are just different.

I agree! And then at the end, he doesn't blame himself - he blames the killer only. Yes, the killer did end her life... but he was too absorbed at his job to call his 'second mother' who was scared! Sorry bud, try and assuage your guilt all you want - you should have fired the guy right away. I only feel bad for Miss Annie - not so much for her grandson.

I don't think we know everything about the person telling the story's situation. That being said, I am over at my Grannie's house walking her dog twice a day and I make big pots of soup, lasagnas, and shepherd pies for her and my mom and her sisters. Basically we all take care of her. Personally, if she had told me someone in her employ scared her I would tell him this isn't a corporate job, you got one chance, its gone now.

Ive lost my little brother, my only brother. This has changed my whole family. It has chaged me so much that i dont even speak to anyone i knew before this tragidy. To everyone who lost someoe, i am so sorry. Grief is a walk you must do on your own. My brother died violently. Myself and and sister's and my mom all live with the "what if's". This is pointless. The only person or people to blame was the momsters who committed these crimes. Forgive yourselves. Live now in the love that person showed you. Let that be the Light you follow.

Nice the first OP can still sleep easy not feeling guilty in any way for having a huge part in the death of a woman he claimed to love. The only desecration to her memory is that person not owning up to their massively huge role in her death. They hired the guy, they sent him into a vulnerable persons home, sat back and trusted without due diligence. If I was a member of Ms. Annie's family I'd sue OP to the ends of the earth. Narcissisticly letting go of guilt, does not negate guilt. Monster.

Damn! The 2nd story He pretty much hired the womans killer. And after getting on to him the guy should have known it was not safe for Ms. Annie. Don't ever hire some unknown man to do work for an old lady.
@idrow1
@idrow1 4 жыл бұрын
A guy hires a shady guy looking for money to do work at an old woman's house, she tells him the guy scares her and he goes and pisses the guy off, doesn't fire him like he should have and sends him back to her place instead. And he has the nerve to say he's not to blame at all? He staged the entire scenario for her to be murdered and sleeps just fine at night. Even has the stones to tell the story to the world. That's remarkable.

He couldn’t be bothered going over to help her, and when he finally became worried couldn’t be bothered to even go check on her himself. I understand he works but he seemed to describe his “close” relationship to his grandmother in a shockingly apathetic way. I don’t like blaming someone when they suffer a loss…usually you have to reassure them. This individual was incredibly lazy about repaying this woman’s dedication to raising and caring for him when he was young. And seems to suffer no guilt. He allowed an absolute stranger access to a defenseless senior citizen with either a naive sense of trust or - more likely- a dismissive attitude of getting her off his back for menial tasks while paying someone . What a prick

To the writer of the second story (assuming this is a true story), yes, in many ways you have some responsibility in the lady’s murder. You hired the guy, and you noticed his attitude was changing. Also you did not intervene when the old woman probably was scared. Lastly how much were you really checking on her?
@MaryTheresa1986

And why didn't he do a background check on the guy before giving him the job? Why wasn't he at Miss Annie's house the first time Mark arrived? He should've fired him sooner and tried to get a restraining order, and let Miss Annie stay with him until everything blew over. That poor, sweet lady had to deal with that madman m all alone. 😢😢😭😭

So, just so you understand how real life works, it doesn't matter how much you check someone out, they can change. Yes, he absolutely should have been more cautious. He absolutely should have gone to check on her. However, at the end of the day, the only responsible is the person who committed the crime. He could have fired the guy or whatever, the guy could have then come back aza nd the end result would still be the same.

Man do I have a scary repairman story. The man that asked to come in my apartment (massive man) was not really the maintenance guy...he went right back to my room to supposedly fix electricity. I was a young college student and was new to the apartment complex. I immediately got scared when I shut the door behind him an intense fear. I grabbed my backpack and ran out for class half thinking that maybe I was over thinking. I got home later to find a huge "man sized" hole in the ceiling of my closet. A few days passed and the maintenance guy never came back to seal up the hole. I went to the manager and asked her when was the maintenance guy going to close up the hole and watched as the color drained from her face. That guy was NOT the real maintenance man. Trust your instincts, this happened in the late 90's.

I'd submit mine... my crackhead downstairs neighbor threatened to shoot me, my boyfriend, and niece because I texted him to turn down his music. I had to have the police escort us away from the building, because this guy had been yelling and screaming at the people in the apartment, who were feeding into his behavior, and my boyfriend had come to pick my niece, myself, and our American Bulldog up and take us to his house. I didn't come back for 3 weeks and the office is issuing them a 21/30, which means they have 21 days to fix it, or 30 days to leave, and I honestly wish they'd leave at this point, because they have been a pain in my ass since December. Not the scariest thing to ever happen to me, but it happened in quarantine and the mention of violence made me scared.

The notorious serial killer, the Boston Strangler, gained access to his victims by pretending to be an electrician. He raped and murdered a lot of women, some of them elderly, in the 1960s. Women became paranoid of repairmen for years after that. It's a shame that suspicion wore off over time.

1-If I found a teen talking to my teen daughter on a job like 18 and 17 yrs old, I'm intervening with a strong hand as it seems he was being inappropriate. Do your job, be polite and leave. Small talk is fine. This guy found a grown man who was suppose to be doing work and simply using the bathroom real quick taking a long damn break to speak to his daughter. It's ass kicking, bullet or kicked out and reported to supervisor, there shouldn't be any "Well hey gee golly man, what ya doing? ok sir nothing? great you can go" No report, no anger, no displaying frustration or boldness to the guy about it asking him wtf was he doing. I have to refrain myself from gawking at the repair men as I try to learn what little I can from them. I like learning how to repair my home, in any little way I can. Very much a Do It Yourself kind of person, and a minor control freak. I'm not usually paranoid of my repair men, always having my dog and brother in law around, living in a crowded apartment building, with thin walls.

Not sure I believe the Miss Annie story. Police aren't able to tell that much from doing a simple welfare check - a coroner would have to make the determination that it was a hammer attack, and police wouldn't be so quick to tell a family member that multiple attackers were involved. Homicides require a thorough investigation.

"It just eats me up inside.." that a murderer who also beat a man's wife into critical condition and who knows if he would have also hurt the son had he known he was there may get life in prison? Really? I tell you, these story writers or submissions sure say the dumbest things sometimes. I agree it is a terrible waste of life, but why in the hell would it eat you up inside? I'd actually prefer he get the death penalty. I don't see the justice nor sense in locking away people caught red handed doing murder. We know what he did, and why there's no disputing that (save a dumb ass defense attorney lie to try to get him off) so we should move this right along. Arrest,Investigation, immediate trail, no death row, no defense attorney, death. Maybe he would have thought twice if we treated murderer like this. That you basically sign your life away when you commit murderer. And your execution should not be painless. Firing squad, hanging or electrocution.

Went to a psychic for fun. She helped me out, not with her reading which was some bull about romance troubles which I did not have, but when I told her afterwards that I had TMJ and was going to a plastic surgeon she asked me who my doctor was and when I told her she told me this horrific experience she’d had with that same doctor who had botched her TMJ surgery and ruined her life. She’d been a model and he’d scarred her. She’d sued him and won. So yeah, a psychic truly helped me out, and I am forever grateful. Except... my jaw is always swollen with inflammation, the bone is grinding on bone, as this was in the late 90’s but I’m not going to get the surgery until it I absolutely have to.

Absolutely love the introduction, it reminds me of a late 80s early 90s science-horror flic

“You can call me a coward but you’d do the same.” No coward, I wouldn’t. I’d kick the utter crap out of a man who was covering up after being attacked by a small woman

Odd to me that the father said he’ll go to her graduation because she was almost kidnapped and that her trauma made her better in school. It sort of sounds like, in a backwards in-denial way, he’s grateful to the would be kidnapper.

The story with the dad’s friend and the garage door... Man, some people will go out of their way to believe anything. Your dad wasn’t the “intended victim” of anything and the fortune teller was completely unrelated. Your dad and his friend were the victims of a totally random event that could have happened to anyone.

agreed its just like with those people who use California psychics and claim that they told them their names, family, etc. When in reality its not that hard to stall a caller while tracing their number to find their name and look up their social media.

Second story, sorry but yeah it is your fault. Who hires someone who comes to their door without checking them out? Guess what, Ted Bundy looked like a fine young man also. She told you she was scared but you were obviously too busy to bother and why exactly did you have to call the police for a wellness check? You obviously didn’t live that far since Mark worked at her house and then came to your house every week so you must be in the same town. You claim to care so much for her but you couldn’t bother to see her in person, just talk on the phone once in a while, but you have time to nap and spend the day on the couch once a week. Maybe you should have got your lazy ass over to her house once a week and helped her yourself or at least saw her in person.

I'm incredibly thankful that either 1.) I personally know the repairmen who come into our house or 2.) One of my parents stays home with me. Obviously I know that just because I personally know the repairmen doesn't mean absolutely nothing could happen but it'd be outright stupid for them to do anything because I *will* tell my parents and they *will* believe me.
