I'd have to go with Lloyd from Legend Of The Dragoon. If you haven't played this amazing game (shame on you), he's the equivalent of FF7's Sephiroth. He's the guy who kills Lavitz, the coolest character ever, but realizes at some point that he was deceived the whole time. He tries to make things right, before dying in vain.

Not quite in vain - he does, upon his death, still deliver the Divine Dragon Spirit stone to Dart for the final battle, who otherwise would have had no Dragoon form.

Would've been awesome if Lloyd was given a spin-off game or at least useable as a party member even if it was just for one disc. The Legend of Dragoon got me into RPG's. Additions FTW

tbh, i find that the storyline of KH is only really confusing to the people who havent actually played all the games. These are usually either people who assume the games that arent 1 and 2 are unimportant "spinoffs" or people who just didnt because of console differences. Though with the 1.5+2.5 package on ps4 coming and 2.8 there isnt really that console excuse anymore

I concur entirely, but while generally convoluted in comparison to other series if you take the time to play them all you'll realize that you don't get a chance to meet Lea until after you play KH2 and that the story does actually come together

You can play MGS3 without knowing what is going on because it is chronologically the first in the series. There is no backstory. It is the beginning of the very rich Metal Gear Solid tale. And it is the best game ever made. So yeah, you should play it.

2Franks as someone who replayed the game about 5 times one summer and unlocked all the karmic transformations(look, I'm SUPER fluffy now!XD) yes, yes it was. I haven't played the game since my tv broke and no one will help me lift the dang dinosaur out of the room so I can get a new one, but I still listen to the soundtrack and get all nostalgic from time to time:)

Kessler from inFAMOUS. He seems like a really bad guy, killing your girlfriend and ruining your life. But then he shows you that it was really just so that you wouldn't have anything to lose so that when the real danger comes, you won't hesitate. He's alright in my book.

Ah, but did he? SPOILERS!!! (Though I'll be vague as I can.) Olgierd made the bargain in first place, and was willing to pay the price he paid for the prize he wanted. Then, when the price was more than he liked, he tried to back out. Sympathy, in my mind, is warranted, but he wasn't a good man to begin with, and he hurt many along the way.

WarpChaos It took me less than 10 seconds to write "kh bbs lea". I then clicked japanese version (orginal) and they CLEARLY say Lea instead of Lee. BBS confirmed it's Lee at dubbed version. Do research before arguing with false confirmation

Glad to see Beatrix make this list! She's one of the best Final Fantasy atagonists-turned-good-guy of all times and that battle she fights alongside Steiner in disc 3 is one of the most memorable moments in the game. Final Fantasy IX has a lot of great characters who appear very simple, but are actually quite complicated. I didn't appreciate it as much when it first came out, but now, with some space and perspective away from VI, VII, and VIII, it's one of my favorite entries in the whole franchise.

My suggestion? Lady Maria of the Astral Clocktower from the Bloodborne Old Hunters DLC. Not only is she one of the best/funnest bosses in Bloodborne and the Souls series, but she has a fantastic backstory. The fight itself is basically her trying to keep you from entering the fishing village to commit further atrocity against the inhabitants within - atrocities which eventually led her to commit suicide out of guilt.

Oh I definitely knew a MGS villain would end up on this list but I thought for sure it would be Revolver Ocelot. The guy quadruple crosses his way through every scenario but in the end we realize it was all in a bid for redemption to eventually bring down the tyrannical and now automated Patriots organization that he himself originally cofounded. Definitely my favorite antihero of all time.

See, I appreciate when Kingdom Hearts gets mentioned, but at the same time it drives me nuts when it is painfully obvious that the person talking knows little to nothing about the series. Lea is pronounced "Lee," Organization XIII's goal was not to turn Sora into a Heartless, and frankly it's kind of odd to me that they'd mention Axel as a "villain who turned out alright in the end" without mentioning his sacrificial death in KH2. (and yes, I know I sound like a total dweeb to all the non-KH fans here)

It'd be like if people tried arguing that Sora's name is actually supposed to be "Soda" and Riku's name is actually supposed to be "Diku" and that "Kingdom Hearts" is actually supposed to be "King-a-doom-a Hot-su" Pretty sure it was always meant to be "lee," but because of the Japanese language, they'd have that weird "a" sound when they finish the name.

the first person i thought of was Lloyd from Legend of Dragoon. One of the coolest characters ever, he starts off by being despicable and then redeems himself by turning good towards the end of the game.

He's the reverse, started out a pretty good (if slightly misguided) guy, and is slowly warped into a villain over the course of the Pre-Sequel. Ironically the Lost Legion CAUSED the thing they were trying to prevent. Who knows how it may have gone if they hadn't attacked Helios. In the end his ultimate goal is somewhat noble, it's really the means (horrible, horrible means) that made him seem so bad

Kongol from Legend of Dragoon. Essentially the trump card of the army you're trying to defeat throughout disc 1 and after you defeat him (twice), he disappears on a soul searching mission, only to show up out of the blue and save one of your party member's lives after a boss battle in his homeland almost an entire disc later.

I agree, Rob. Overcast weather is definitely OK. I just don't understand why no one around here agrees with me. I mean, you don't get any annoying glare in your eyes when you're driving your car, no harsh beating down sun that makes you want to crawl into the shade. Just lovely soothing calm weather. I'd say that Savedro from Myst III fits nicely into this category. Sure, he was the one who trapped you in the lesson ages, but he was a victim himself. The moment when I set him free is one of my favourite moments in a game.
