This video is wonderfully clear. I really appreciate that you demonstrate these concepts slowly and gradually. Teaching is not about the teacher, it's about the student experience. Too many internet jazz instructors just focus on playing fast and talking a lot. I look forward to watching more of your videos and learning.

My Man, all you need are some Lyrics and you could be the next Van Heusen. Seriously, find an "Ira Gershwin" or better yet, write your own lyrics. Everyone of these "examples" are definitely Song worthy.

Question: are you using block cords in this video along the technique of voice leading? I try to understand.
@StijnWauters
@StijnWauters Жыл бұрын
Most examples in this video are based on shell voicings (1-3-7 or 1-7-3) or open voicings (aka spread voicings) (shells + extensions). I usually start on Dm7 with a specific but common voicing and then try to use smooth voice leading to play the rest of the II V I (I also try to create an interesting melody with the topnotes of the voicings). But no block chords in this video (that’s a different topic and sound). I have some tutorials on shell voicings and open voicings on my channel that might be of help. Good luck!
