Have you tried any of these? Do you have one I didn't mention?

I didn't tell my endocrinologist I had stopped my insulin and just smiled when she said my numbers were great - blood sugar in the normal range and A1C down from 8.6 to 6.6. Stopped the madness.

My 17 year old daughter has started keto after seeing my successes, scale and non-scale. Yesterday her pediatrician told me, after a very good check up, that she doesn't think my daughter should be on this fad diet, she should be eating healthy. She just smiled and nodded when I told her how healthy my daughter is eating. Maybe it's time to look for a new doc for her.

During one 20 hour fast I ate a small piece of cantaloupe the size of a quarter. After ten minutes, I had a raging stomach ache for more. Hmmm, so this is why I was grazing for years... Sugar is sugar! Blood pressure down to 109/74 this morning. I guess I will get off the BP meds. ! This diet is awesome...

We thought it would be ok to leave our Keto diet during the holidays, so that we could enjoy "food" with family and friends. What a mistake, not only were we miserable, it's been hard to get back into Keto. I learned quickly how addicting carbs can be! OMH I don't ever want to eat carbs again. I'm back to refreshing my Keto knowledge and motivation by listening to Dr. Berry. Thanks for all the information.

Love your videos. I have been doing the keto diet for 5 months. I have lost 50 lbs and even more in inches. I have gone from a 2XL to Large size in clothing. I am a nurse and hear from so many how bad keto is. The first thing I ask them is “ Have you tried the diet?” Their usual reply is “oh no but I have heard how bad it is.” MI find this so ironic. This is an amazing lifestyle and has changed my life. Even in nursing, I hate seeing how easy medications are prescribed and no real remedy. It breaks my heart. Keep it up. Your videos are fantastic

Donna: Four days to start feeling good again is *good.* I stayed with one of my old friends for a week and just ate whatever was there because I didn't want to inconvenience anyone (she had a lot of folks there), and boy do I regret it. I felt like sh*t the whole week I was there and it didn't take me four days to feel good again but a whole month, even though I went right back to my T-Rex diet as soon as I got back. Sometimes we have to learn things the hard way, don't we. 😕

Dr. Barry I was on metformin for ten years and following the ada diet and my glucose levels were still elevated. My a1c was 6.5. The morning of July 14th I decided to throw away the metformin and hope for the best! Later that day I accidentally came across one of your videos on KZfaq. I was inspired! Immediately cleaned out my pantry and refrigerator of “ healthy “ foods and started this Keto journey. Within 4 days my glucose levels were normal! I haven’t lost as much weight as most other people, but I’m happy with the 15 lbs I’ve lost so far and feel confident that the rest of the excess weight will come off. Thank You!!! for being such a wonderful inspiration and for sharing your knowledge!

A big part of the problem is that 'nutritional ketosis' sounds like 'ketoacidosis.' The latter is a life threatening condition. The former is a life extending condition. So people get confused. Plus, even though vegan keto is possible, vegans tend to be anti-keto because keto tends to encourage meat consumption. So the militant ones are busy creating anti-keto propaganda like that What The Health "documentary."

Wow, just went out for my birthday to a chinese buffet. I tried to stick to vegies and meats, had a couple of breaded (OMG) shrimp. Well, I also had 3 little squares of jello, a dollop of whipped cream (dont' think it was real) and a tiny scoop of chocolate ice cream. Now, I've been on keto for about 2 months and have lost 17 lbs. Doing well, not missing carbs. Today I made a huge mistake even going there. Never again. I literally thought I was going to be ill when I walked to the washroom at the end. I felt terrible, yuk. Walking back out of the restroom, I had to pass all that food again and it was all I could do to not puke on my way out. I'm never going to do that again and I'm going to fast for as long as I can to help get rid of this feeling. Lesson learned

The negative reinforcement I get when I eat anything but carnivore is what has kept me there most of this whole month, despite no change in looks or clothes. Cheat day once a week not worth it. Cheat day once a month maybe, but likely just the major holidays in Nov and Dec. And that will still likely be comprised of sugar/flour free. I go longer without eating (cooking! :) ) and get more done, in addition to not hating life/self like SAD makes me. So glad I found your channel, thanks for being a fantastic role model.

I just wanted to say that I love what you are doing and what you stand for. I've been doing keto about 5 or 6 months now and lost 25 lbs. I have about ten more pounds to go but I've also seen many health benefits as well. I used to have sinus infections every 3 or 4 months and I haven't had one since I started! I have to remind myself to eat now when before I would have low blood sugar problems if I didn't eat often enough. This way of eating is awesome and I plan to stay with it forever. Thank you for the great info you share. 😉

my friend of 40 years just hung up on me because I don't agree with his assessment of the dangers of Keto says I'm gullible, I'm not. we met in the Air Force, I built and repaired jet engines, since then I have worked in mainly "mens" type jobs, I have done research, and I have lost 48 lbs, why would anyone think that taking sugars out of your eating is a bad thing. he said do you eat veggies and fruit, YES I DO but I eat the lower carb ones, I do not miss the carbs because I still eat carbs but the GOOD FOR YOU CARBS. HOPE I DONT LOSE A GOOD FRIEND OVER THIS HE SAID SO WHEN YOUR HEALTH FAILS YOU DONT COME RUNNING TO ME. This is the same friend I talked down from suicide two years ago pray for me

I have cacao butter, MCT oil or a fresh coconut in my coffee with cream . Trying to take the cream out ! I hate counting calories. I eat 1-2 meals a day . No snacking . Someone said “ eat according your blood type” I’m O ! Carnivore! I feel great eating the food I’m eating I’m just not losing weight. I watched the Joe Rogan podcast and I totally agree with Dr. Berry, however, if you read the comments under the video, you'll see that there are lots of uninformed people who actually believe that Kahn 'won the debate'. These are people who believe what he says because he is a great talker and knows how to present his BS while hoping that nobody will notice. And in many cases his strategy works. Luckily, Chris Kresser didn't let him get away with it. It's sad to see how many people just don't want to take the time to dig deeper but feel entitled to voice their opinion. I believe it's going to be a long time before what we understand about nutrition will be accepted by mainstream society. We need more doctors like Dr. Berry.

Just curious.. does anyone have any LOW carb recipes for a bread maker? I was given one for Christmas and I haven't used it.. I have heard of 'fat head' bread, but I also know co-ops have low carb bread in their freezers but wondering if it can be made in a bread maker?

Quick question.. How do you intake your vitamins by doing mostly carnivore?

Dr Berry, thank you! Because of one of your videos explaining what is keto, it took out all the confusion and since then I’ve lost 21lbs! I’m curious though, every time I eat red meat it makes me feel bad. My head feels weird & sometimes I get a headache. Onions do it too. I do have Celiac Disease so would I have a sensitivity to those foods as well?

Hey Dr. Berry, My husband and I are stepping into the keto lifestyle thanks to your videos, but I am 6mos post partum and exclusively breastfeeding. My healthcare professionals are not the least bit supportive of keto and have me scared to start. I read at one point that it takes at least 30grams of carbs to make breast milk and then there's 20 carbs for the mother = 50 carbs per day minimum. Would I even go in to ketogenesis eating that many carbs? Is it unsafe? I know OB and Peds isn't your specialty, but would you be willing to do a video for the breastfeeding moms of the world explaining whether or not this is safe/advisable, and whether or not we need to alter it for our needs? Thank you so much!

Jaclyn Holyfield Breast milk is 50% fat so keto is perfect for moms and babies. I have heard of lots of mom's sucessfully doing keto both when pregnant and also when breastfeeding. I know some in real life and also heard from some on podcast talks. I think one was on Leanne Vogels podcast, The Keto Diet.

My youngest baby is over a year old now so I eat 20g or less of carbs per day and still produce adequate breast milk. When my babies are younger I typically eat between 30g-50g of carbs per day and stay in ketosis, until they establish eating solids. My kiddos are always between 97%-103% on height and weight growth charts too, so I know they’re being nourished well. (We have giant children in our family.) They’ve been on time or ahead of all developmental milestones as well, which is an especially important indicator to me. There isn’t a lot of research out yet that I’ve found, but in my experience keto breastfeeding makes my babies thrive and keeps me feeling healthier in my own body. I would also love more info on keto pregnancy and breastfeeding too. The information available now is still pretty limited.

Jaclyn Holyfield: Charlene Anderson has been following a carnivore lifestyle (zero carbs) for nearly two decades. She had two children while on the diet. Amber O'Hearn has been on the same diet (meat only) for about a decade and at least one of her three children was breastfed while she was consuming zero carbs and weaned onto a carnivore diet. All of these children are healthy and thriving. You can easily find more information by googling their names and "carnivore diet".

Can you still do the Keto lifestyle change when you're potassium, calcium and Magnesium are all low? Can you do it if you have digestion issues?
@Xune2000
@Xune2000 5 жыл бұрын
Miraclebaby30 Part of doing keto is getting potassium, calcium and magnesium in balance; primarily through your diet, secondarily through supplements. Dr. Berry has some great videos on foods that contain these minerals, you can use them to help you build a diet plan that gives you everything you need.

Miraclebaby30 :) I was hospitalized low in all three with digestion issues and Keto has helped heal these issues immensely. I used to have heart arrythmia attacks and pass out several times a week from the low magnesium and potassium. I've only had one falling episode since doing keto/low carb. Also my arthritis is 80% gone and I'm no longer cold all the time. Its been 9 months on this diet and I found results in the first week.

Doc Hatfield: It all depends on what you eat. If you go back to your old ways (you know, all the things that got you sick in the first place), then your problems will come back. Think of Keto/ZeroCarbs as a lifestyle, not a diet.

If it even gets people to cut back to 100 carbs a day instead of the normal 350 plus it will still help. If you can do 0 do zero but I need some fiber or I have digestive problems and I think the fiber keeps your colon cleaned out.

I have a question about mtc oil, these numbers in the mtc oil like 3,8,10,or 12. Is 8 better or 3? I living in the Netherlands, and they're not into keto. So doctors here don't know what to answer because they have no idea what I'm talking about. Thank you 😀

What do you mean check your height to belly and above .5? At the end you spoke of SKIN TAGS... is that a sign of diabetes? I started getting those a couple years back and they were growing. I JUST CHECKED THEM AGAIN and there disappearing where they were except this tiny one by my outer eye corner. Does this mean the KETO WAY OF LIFE is working? God, I hope so...o and I have lost 34# since taking it seriously this summer. TIA...if you or someone that knows the answer can help.
