Intense stuff. I can see fear and insecurity all over their body language. Thank you two for being vulnerable enough to do this publicly. I started getting teary-eyed because I made enormously poor financial choices and my wife was burnt-out and exhausted, exactly where this woman is but she chose to leave me. And she left me with four children. It's been hard, very hard. Don't give up on God or each other, and this guy better wake up daily and spend time prostate before God in utter humility and surrender. You two can do this. Don't give up on each other. Years from now you can have a monumental testimony.

Amazing video, A friend of mine referred me to a financial adviser sometime ago and we got to talking about investment and money. I started investing with $150k and in the first 2 months, my portfolio was reading $274,800. Crazy right!, I decided to reinvest my profit and get more interesting. For over a year we have been working together making consistent profit just bought my second home 2 weeks ago and care for my family.

Maybe already owns the ground, but most farmers lease their equipment and turn it over every year or two. See my comment about the farming mentality of always staying in debt. Also: there's got to be more to the story of them being sued by the equipment company for $100,000. If the equipment was leased and something broke due to normal wear and tear, I would imagine that repair would have been covered by the equipment company. But it sounds like something broke and the company is blaming him for it, that he was negligent in using the equipment, abusive, etc. Which falls in line with my comment about his ego and pride being partially to blame for their situation.

I agree William. Judging from their body language, she was desperately seeking validation and he was absolutely cringing in shame. They need marriage counseling first. Once they establish boundaries between going all out to provide for their family and throwing the other "under the bus" when things don't pan out, then they can address the money problems. When she quits emasculating him, takes responsibility for her role and starts treating him like the hardworking stud he is they will be incredibly successful. She was giddy when Dave insulted him and almost in tears when Dave praised her. I did not see commitment in her eyes. I did not see confidence in his. I hope there is a positive follow-up to their story.

The trouble is farming runs through your veins. He should hire himself out for wages at harvest and seeding time and drive truck the rest of the year. Still keep your feet wet on the land and get your farming fix while also making money for the family. I would sell the rig and work for a company driving truck. Too many risks with repairs. My husband drives truck and I love that he doesn’t own it. We make fantastic coin without the headache. He comes home and he can be home without thinking about work.

This guy reminds me of someone in my past. That guy in the past lost his wife and kids. He declared bankruptcy. We had to write off his debt from our business. He tried to be a farmer and it failed. I saw him one day and wished him luck on what he was going to do. It seems that he done well for himself since then.

The business killer was the farming equipments. He should sell them and keep the truck. The truck is worth 30k and bring in 150k per season.. That's where the money is at !

He is being insincere about his driving truck. As an owner operator you pay for everything. Fuel, repairs, all of it. That just dropped his net income in half.

I feel sorry for Caleb i really do, just a honest hard working guy who is in so much debt that he sold his soul to the banks while bankers are collecting huge amount of interest for 40 years than they miss 3-4 payments and than there goes the farm that was in the family for 100 years. I pray you guys find a way.

BassPlayer60134 - I agree. As a young pregnant mom of a toddler I knew zero about money and trusted my husband to negotiate deals because my dad was a good provider so I assumed my husband would be the same. He ended up totally eating large time and labor-intensive jobs and his family suffered. I lost respect for him. I see now I should have put my foot down and taken charge, insisting on all deals approved and discussed by me as a full equal partner with both of us together sitting down with pen and paper for basic math BEFORE he allowed himself to be schnookered by experienced greedy cheap millionaires. We could have practiced in advance phrases to say when put on the spot or taken off guard. A firm commitment to walk away from a bad deal is rule #1.

Skeet Fletcher he'd lose the truck in bankruptcy, since it's an asset of significant worth that can be liquidated. Plus if it's on a lease (which I think they said that), then the bankruptcy filed effects that loan too. Car loans aren't blocked from being pardoned like student loans are. The wife said something about the bank not guaranteeing something, so if hw files bankruptcy I doubt he'd keep the truck. I could be wrong but I got the impression of a) lose almost all, keep truck, truck full time (husband's idea) vs b) lose everything, including truck, scramble for job (wife's idea). Dave is right, bankruptct is too extreme to not exhaust everything possible first, so husband's plan wins, oddly considering he 'caused this.

The funny thing is that most farmers here in montana drive absolutley brand spanking new top of the line dually extended cab shortbed 3500's and get a new one every couple years. The trucks rarely see work, they hire kids whos daddies buy them old diesels to do that work, so yes, sell the freaking useless $70k truck that hauls your kids to school and get an outback ffs. "NOOO!!! I NEEDS THE TRUCK AND MOAR SUBSIDIES!!!!"

He can't make the decision for them, but Dave realizes that without bankruptcy the marriage is going to be on rocky ground for a year or two. That's a BIG risk that's really not worth taking at least in my opinion. Bankruptcy should be a fairly simple decision. Do you have options to be able to pay your bills or not? Family comes before debt. PERIOD!

Im from Holland and not suprisingly we have tons of farming in flatland. Making money farming over here is stressfull to say the least. The amount of government regulation is just off the hook and investments are so huge it makes you wanna cry. God bless all those farmers, we need them. But the only way I see a farm grow weath is by economies of scale; you got to be enourmous in order to make it over a long period of time.

Even more so in Montana. It is a dry climate and easily need 5,000 hectares to get economies of scale. Yes I do mean three zeros behind the 5.
