Awesome battle between Mopar vehicles!! Personally, my mother owns a blue 1965 Plymouth Barracuda! She had it since she first got it as her first car back in the mid 1970s. And it still exists in the garage in my family's house today! Believe it or not, the 'Cuda my mother has actually happens to be the very last 1964 'Cudas produced in very early 1965, as it has the push button trannie that was deleted from 1965 onwards! The wheel design matches that of the ones seen on the '71 Cuda in this video. Overall, really awesome stuff here!

It would have been cool that an Italian designer such as Pininfarina or Vignale, made a 1965 Barracuda with Dart's front end, euro dashboard and interior, and Nardi driving wheel.

Car chases in movies and TV shows back then were perfect sales pitches as to why to purchase the TOP engine options available. Just in case you started hearing a soundtrack similar to 'Bullitt' and saw an ominous Mopar in your rearview mirror...

Scared me for a second. I thought the wreck was going to be bad, not a lot of cudas were made in 71. Glad it wasn't too bad, just got a little dusty hahaha.

A future episode shows this car getting it's front end severely smashed. If they only knew what they were doing, when they wrote that into the script. But I remember reading an article in a Car Craft magazine back in the mid 80's where some guy found it in a garage in southern California still with it's smashed front clip, and completely restored it. He painted it red and put a Hemi in it

Mannix could have got out of this one if he did a Rockford 180 but he could not drive half as good as Jim Rockford.

Also, Rockford had a Pontiac Firebird which were known handlers even back in the day. But, yeah, besides his private investigator gig, he could have made some money teaching evasive driving to fellow PIs and cops.

This is a 71 Barracuda with a small block hood with two opening only difference is the Hood Skaker and the side chrome gills on the fenders that a CUDA has and someone also said its a Plymouth Satillite almost same body style but it is a 71 Dodge Coronet because of the FRATZOG.
@nzuncovered18452 жыл бұрын
The hood shaker was optional. And it's a Cuda you can tell by the wheelbase Barracuda has longer wheelbase than Cuda.

Guy got a lot of shots off without once pulling back the load lever on a bolt action rifle. Mannix would have smoked that 318 more door with that 340 small block!
@robhargis69802 жыл бұрын
More than likely the Coronet was a 318. Manix definitely had at least a 340 and possibly a big block, either a 383 and maybe a 440 with that Ramcharger hood.
@ericwhitehead64512 жыл бұрын
@@robhargis6980 The Coronet could have had a 383 also. They didn't weigh much more then that 'Cuda.

@johndrake27292 жыл бұрын
He drove the hardtop Challenger only during the '73 - '74 season when production of the convertible versions of that and the Barracuda ceased. I read somewhere that the Challenger was custom made for the show. For the final season, after production ended for the E body pony cars, they briefly used a Caprice/Impala convertible and then, more fittingly, a Camaro.
@johndrake27292 жыл бұрын
Okay, now if you look at his hood and steering wheel, especially at around 2:40, they are definitely NOT from a Barracuda or Challenger.
@robhargis69802 жыл бұрын
You're right. I played it back a few times and noticed no Ramcharger hood. The steering wheel I couldn't determine what that's from. No fender mounted turn signals either.

I noticed those errors also and scrolled the comments looking for somebody else that caught them. It is probably a half dressed '70 like the Brady Bunch 1970 Cuda that they slapped a cheese grater grill on and tried to fool everyone. Did this one have '70 or '71 back lights? The 2 years are close but one of the years the reverse lights were seperate from the tail/brake lights.... I can't remember which year though.... a quick google image search would answer that question. Good eye catching those errors.
