I had no idea that someone who is 30kg lighter would be able to not only hold his own but set the pace of fight. This video is a huge inspiration to everyone. Thank you Lawrence for making this/these videos.

The Thai fighter might not win with his score, but he won with his fighting spirit. I mean, 30 kg difference and he managed to fight without any fear, man, that's one hell of a fighter. Respect to both.

Nokweed had, above his extreme skill and power, some serious set of balls on him. Not kicking around a 107 kg decently skilled amateur westerner visiting his gym, but a 107 kg elite kickboxer. Rest in peace legend.

I've fought a guy who was 4 kg heavier and 8 cm taller. It was brutal for me. My coach threw in the towel halfway into the second round to keep me from getting needlessly injured. Yet Nokweed managed to dictate the pace of the entire match despite having 35 kg weight disadvantage and 13 cm height disadvantage. He was unbelievably tough.

Guys think about .. not only the difference in weight but also the fact that Nokweed was limited due to the day that knees and elbows weren’t allowed. What a beast , with only 1,72 cm

People who haven't trained in a martial art that includes striking, don't realise how insane this is....I'm stunned.

I watched this tournament on PPV in the US back in 1995. My dad and I were stunned by Nokweed Devy's performance. After the result was given, the PPV commentators for this fight said that Devy was a kickboxer's kickboxer. The tall man leading Devy to the ring looks to be the great Dieselnoi Chor Thanasukarn [Sky Piercing Knees]. He was the Lumpinee Stadium 135lb champion for four years before he was made to retire because no one would fight him. Dieselnoi stated that he was scheduled to fight Nokweed Devy a few times, but Devy always withdrew. A friend said to Dieselnoi that Devy told them he was a afraid to face his knees. Dieselnoi said that Devy had good tactics and good weapons, and would have been a problem for him if he wasn't afraid of him. I believe this K1 event was a young Jerome LeBanner's coming out party. After narrowly getting past Devy, he decisively beat his next foes before losing in the final. Jerome would go on to become a successful K1 fighter for over a decade.

Just watching this fight made me smile a lot. Pure Respect for Nokweed, If this would have went longer Nokweed would have won. Jerome was out of breath. Those leg kicks were doing a lot of damage to his legs. Now if Nokweed the same size, wow it would have been over.

I think it's also worthwhile to point out, while we're talking about the mutual respect shown here, how Jerome went against a shorter, 35kgs lighter, fighter and you can see he never underestimated him.

Taekwondo looks spectacular. Jjiu jitsu is brutal. Karate is disciplined. But none is tougher than Muay Thai. Jesus these guys can take pain. And it might not look pretty, but it's efficient.

Thai fighters are some of the best on the planet. His opponent JLB is harder than a coffin nail and was in his day a brutal and relentless fighter. Raw power combined with skill and a jaw of granite. Nokweed is clearly pound for pound a worthy match and equally as tough. Respect to both of these guys!

all my respect for the Thai fighter. 30kg difference??? it is madness. And he didnt fight against some big fat guy, he fought against another kickboxer who definitely knows how to fight. If the fight last longer, Thai warrior might win, the kickboxer can barely move his leg and Nokweek didnt slow down, he still very strong and slowly learn the fight style of the kickboxer.

This is unfair fight 74 vs 107, 5'8 vs 6'3.. Western fighter never fight much bigger than them. But nookweed small but a big heart. A true muay Thai fighter..

Crazy thing is that JLB would go on to become a K1 legend with wins over Mark Hunt, Ernesto Hoost, Peter Aerts etc. He got up to 260lbs - 270lbs later in the early 2000's and was a monster of a man. Both legends.

the 35kg difference is not just an average joe weight difference, we are talking about Jerome Le Banner in here, arguably one of the best kick boxer in the history. going into a fight with him is hard even for some of the best heavy weight in the world, let alone having a 35kg weight disadvantage. credit to both fighters, they gave their best out.

A very eye opening and astonishing fight which settles the size matters debate. The grace and mutual respect between the two is so good, Muay Thai fighter held his own very well againts a man who'd crush most people in 2 minutes this shows the lifelong training of Thai Fighters which we can't ever accomplish yet even he had trouble that's what size difference is however he wasn't allowed to throw elbows or clinch either which could've affected his arsenal either way this is an important lesson. You will never achieve the Thai Fighter's conditioning so train as hard as possible while lifting to be able to stand a chance
