Miss Nicaragua's answer was convincing, refreshing, on point and heartfelt. If it wasn't because of her answer I never would have known who Mary Wollstonecraft was. Thank you Mary Wollstonecraft for advocating women's right and equality back in those days. Miss Nicaragua spoke from her heart and did it in such confident, natural and calm way. What a winning answer, what a queen.

I did a research on gender equality when I was in college during my final year and Mary Wollstonecraft was one of the feminists that I studied..I was so happy when Miss Nicaragua referenced her in her final question. That showed how intelligent, confident and eloquent she is in the way she answered which contributed to her victory❤❤❤ Kudos to Miss Universe 2023💙🇳🇮

Haters gonna hate. I’m an Indian. Miss Nicaragua won fair and square. I like the most of you was rooting for Michelle Dee. Please watch the entire evening gown competition and you’ll know why Miss Dee isn’t in top 5. She was sighing on the stage and was robotic and nervous. MU judges evening gowns by the confidence of women not by the gown designs. Also Miss Thailand is too stiff and robotic for a MU. Nicaragua was personable. She was humble, fierce, bold and beautiful all at the same time. The reaction she gave when she was picked for top 20 and the way she opened the swimsuit competition, I knew hands down she was going to win. For QnA I think there’s surely some advantage using a translator but considering you need to listen to the translator and also actively listen as they’re translating your words, I don’t think its going to relieve you of much stress. Stop hating Asia!

Using the translators is an advantage when you can actually understand English. If translators are used then the one using them shouldn’t have the opportunity to listen that in English and only as a translation.

Miss Nicaragua will really break barriers in her reign as Miss Universe, she is here to prove that nothing can interfere in your way when you are confident in yourself and your path to be were you are today, because people are complaining that she speaks spanish in her answers and keep saying that you need to speak english to be MU, she proved them completely wrong. Because she shoned that night, she demonstrated that she is smart and in spite of the criticism, she showed us that language is not a limitation when you have a vision, the crown just goes to THE BEST contestant.

She listened in English first, then gave her time to think while the translator took time to translate to her - that is cheating and unfair to other candidates. If Candidates want Spanish, then ask them in Spanish, and answer in Spanish during the required time frame. Translate to others only after she has answered in Spanish. The same rules apply to non-English speakers. That is only fair and transparent.

That would not be fair would be to force the misses whose English is not advanced or who are not directly English speakers to respond in a language that they do not handle and harm their response in that way. Women who are not from an English-speaking country, who do not have the privilege of an international education, should they be left at a disadvantage? Or directly never let them win or go to the top 5? Would that be your solution?

@@nxtxshx5662directly ask her in Spanish, then she should answer in Spanish without any “wait time” for translation”. The translators only translated to English after she answered the Q & A. Understand? The same rules apply to all non-English candidates. That is called FAIRNESS

Thailand spoke fluently, but her answer was a decent but generic pageant answer, and can actually change to other woman without modifying any other word. Nicaragua's answer was more concrete and specific.

Exquisite beauty + intelligence = Miss Universe. This formula will never fail. It's the true reason people watch this show. We don't want to see average people on that stage, what's the purpose for that? This competition was always to celebrate the "above and beyond" not simply the "everyday occurrence". When you don't follow the woke agenda, trust me you won't go broke!

This is the correct and full translation of Miss Nicaragua's answer. The translator did a very good job but i can understand that because of the crowd as well with the pressure she did not full trasmited to a high loyal level on what Miss Nicaragua said. Here it is: "I would choose Mary Wollstonecraft because she was the first woman that opened the gap for women's rights. She lived in a very hard situation and I would have done anything possible for those wage gaps of that time were the perfect opportunity so a lot of women could work in any area that they can perform because there is no limitation for women, we can and we have the capacity. That time was in 1756, 2023 we're making history." For those who say that translation services are an advantage for 90% of the cases it is not, a clear example is Miss Vietnam 2018 an excellent candidate that delivered a very good and complete answer but her translator messed it up. And seriously, the list goes on. I put the answer as it is, so you could see that with using a translator there is a lot disadvantage since the real words are not translated due to the pressure of finding the words, thank God Miss Nicaragua Answer was full of content that did not lose its weight.

It is no stranger when it comes to answering in your native language, check your facts before you become a sore loser.

Stop it guys. Speaking only English doesn’t mean you can be a miss universe. Being a miss universe is more than just English. If you think knowing English is enough to be miss universe then it is unfair for those who don’t speak English as their first languages anyway.

I think Thailand should’ve shown more enthusiasm. Maybe she was overconfident since she had just won another beauty contest. Aside from that, her swim and night suits were not the greatest. Nicaragua went with a winners attitude and wore better attire. On top of that, Nicaragua had one of the best sculptured bodies in the competition. Nicaragua deserved the crown!

I think Thailand is not overconfident. I guess she was just being too nervous cause she has always be the top favorite to win that crown. Maybe the pressure get to her. I think she did a quite decent job here, but just not excellent enough.

@@coldenbluu I noticed all MU winners delivered confidence throughout the final competition, I do not recall any one of them being nervous. At the most they were humble and self effacing. Thailand was holding back, like she was afraid to make a false move or a mistake. She and the Philippines lacked the spontaneity that Nicaragua has. I have heard a lot of people said she gave a better performance in he national pageant than at MU. Nicaragua by comparison was consistent.

Although I was originally rooting for Thailand, her swim and evening gown performances were very weak compared to many countries. So I know her speaking skills got her to that 1st runner up place. But Nicaragua, wow that girl blew the competition away: startung at prelims, and then she was even better at finals which is so hard to do! Watch her swim at prelims vs final= amazing! Girl didnt flinch! SHE OWNED!

That the year of born of Mary Wollstonecraft which Miss Nicaragua was answered it is nine years wrong and it is was born in 1759 not 1750 according to Wikipedia website she is totally not fair at all

First of all, the interpretation was a bit wrong, it was 1756 not 1750 and second of all, she was referring to the situation which was around that time when women couldn’t work in the field they wanted so regardless 1750, 1760 or 1770 women still couldn’t work with the income gap and she said she would like to be her to change the income gap so regardless which year it was she was asked to live in a woman’s shoes for only a year and the reason she emphasized that particular year is to show that by changing the status of the women during that time or era she could have change the status better and in 2023 we see that changes so what’s your actual problem huh?

You know you won't be satisfied with Q and A if there were no INDIA, PHILIPPINES, SOUTH AFRICA, USA in the Q and A round. These are the countries that will go toe to toe when it comes to beauty and brain. Today's top three can't beat the batch Catriona, Harnaaz, Gabriel, Wurtzbach and Zozibini.

Let me tell you something I watch a person with a lot experience in MU contest n he said a lot of thing about body language, the way they delivered the question, go back a review miss Thailand performance she look robotic at time not really sure when to turn etc, go back to swimwear and watch her again she doesn’t look confident not smile at time, miss Nicaragua she did that well than the rest n judge look at all those little details, not just the pretty face or answer

What will she help others if she herself need a translater for her in an international event to express her thought. I think it matters a lot matters than a so called body language which means all over appearance . at last answer also matters a lot and about confidence she has a lot. to clear any doubt i am not thai , i am canadian so that you don't think that i am supporting any special from my origin

@@khaiyeecaitlyn2415 and I think this would help the non English speaking to have a chance to answer the question without stoping/ pausing and wait for the translator one sentence in a time. And the professional translator should be able to translate a 30 second long message!

Miss Nicaragua is the only one that wasted up to 89 seconds of that question time and it was because of she was speech mainly in Spanish and using the translator That event is unusual and not fair at all and will going to be held responsibility for this

is it true that they didn't let the other contestants wear headphones like previous years when the others answered? Can someone who was in the live audience please confirm.. if this is true it's really unfair for Anntonia but she answered very well nevertheless. Australia's answer was very weak since top 5, don't know how she made it in instead of Columbia who gave a much stronger response in the top 5 round.

Nicaragua did not provide the best answer. Because education is more important If you don't have an education..you won't be able to choose a career. Change the rules for interpreters!!! The non-speaking English candidate should finish her answer first before the interpreter speaks. It’s only 30 seconds so it shouldn’t be hard for them to interpret it. It’s unfair that candidate gets to hear it twice in their native tongue and in english and also again when halfway answering it!!
