Johann Wolfgang von Goethe, born August 28, 1749, in Frankfurt on the Main, Germany, was a German poet, novelist, and playwright, considered the greatest German literary figure of the modern era.
Goethe was the important figure of European Neoclassicism and Romanticism in the late 18th and early 19th century. His work includes poetry written in a variety styles, prose and verse drama, memoirs, autobiographies, literary criticism and novels. His two most famous works are Faust and the novel The Sorrows of Young Werther. In German-speaking countries, his position was so dominant that, since the end of the 18th century, his works were considered as classical.
Goethe is the only German writer who managed to reach the fame of Germany’s supreme philosophers and composers. His writings were the inspiration for many musical and dramatic pieces in the period after his death.

A struggle of a genius with his demonic element. The life and personality of Goethe is derived by these verses : Two souls inhabit in my chest Seeking to separate themselves One, keen on life with rough delight Holds to the earth with tight senses The other, soaring forcefully above the dust Into the realms of ancestral heights Oh, waving spirits Carried by the wind Between heaven and earth Let them descent from the golden clouds To offer us the scent of the true life

Beautiful. The music is wonderful. What would have been perfect is if the quotes were narrated. 🙂

oh, no! A not native speaker of the English language PREFERS ALWAYS that a text be written, and Goethe is german; so, if it is narrated in german and written in English, I agree, otherwise it's better for all the world that it's written and not talken; best regards

Goethe once said that Emmanuel Swedenborg was the greatest seer of the age, but he was in error, Swedenborg was not a seer, he was a revelator. Still, Wolfgang probably said something closer to 'revelator' in the original German, and perhaps the meaning was distorted in translation. The real message is that we should all be studying Swedenborg. His time is now. Thank you for a brilliant presentation with wonderful art as well. I subscribe and like. Peace and blessings to your channel. PS, an American university decided to examine which were the three greatest men in history. One was Wolfgang Von Goethe, one was John Stewart Mills, and the third was Emmanuel Swedenborg. It also turns out that Swedenborg's writings were both loved by Goethe, and Mills.

@Wolfgang H The study referred to scientific minds to a great degree. Swedenborg has to be read to be appreciated. There is a lot written about Swedenborg that is incorrect. I would say, as a serious student of Swedenborg, that he was the greatest spiritual revelator since the apostle John. Swedenborg was a brilliant student and collector of information, and was appointed by King Charles the 12th to do exactly that. Swedenborg was instrumental in inventing the first dry docks, he was the first man to explain how the brain works, notably his discovery that the left brain controls the right side of the body. He invented the first alerion concept for aircraft, and he revealed a great deal about the nature of subatomic energy and how it works. He was accomplished in astronomy, and studied under Haley in Europe's first observatory, and he knew a great deal about metallurgy. He invented the first air powered gun, a stove that burnt for weeks on one charge of fuel, and much, much more. He wrote an astonishing amount during his life, amounting to about four sets of encyclopaedias, all hand written three times. His primary work, Arcana Coelestia, is a masterpiece beyond description. It took me a decade to read, but was the most informative set of books imaginable.
