750 Super Sport Engine Rebuild - Back to Classics
In this episode of Back to Classics:
Harm is rebuilding a 750 Super Sport engine to its formal glory, and we are taking you along the process! Likewise, Harné is going to tell you something about the history of the engine and all the wonderful races that have been won with it! This time though, we don’t only have one, but TWO of the same engines in our workshop!
Finally, Harné will bring us along to the photo studio where Ernst Klip will be taking some outstanding pictures of this beauty. Stay tuned and make sure to subscribe to our channel, since there's more coming your way!
Thanks for watching this episode and see you soon at Back to Classics!

The 200 Mile formula was first run in Italy in 1972, at Imola. Ducati prepared eight 750 cc bikes for the event. Paul Smart, Bruno Spaggiari, Ermanno Giuliano, and Alan Dunscombe were secured as riders.

Awesome, getting me excited to rebuild my 860 engine. The video by tdkeyes1 on head shimming is a good compliment to this one.

The original frames were designed by Colin Sealey and even though the bodywork was designed by Leopoldo Tartarini from Italjet (a friend of Dr. Taglioni) it was manufactured in the UK and Somewhere along the line a little fly got stuck in the fiberglass of a tank.

One thing that stuck out for me is how the crank just dropped in to the bearing and then the top cover dropped straight over the other crank pin, after 50 years of work on Brit bikes i have never come across that, they always need some force or driving on,did i see that correctly?

Great video, loads of porosity in those cases though.

True, we see this on all castings of 750 round case engines. Ducati much improved their castings with the coming of the square case engine in 1975. It must be said though, that the porosity in 750 cases does normally not result in any cracks or leaking.

@@BackToClassics indeed. I had a few gts back in the day and they were fine. My 75 750ss is also fine.

How do you fix this? Moto guzzi had the same issue.

Just exactly how many shims are in one of those engines?? I'm beginning to understand why they cost so much to buy when new and cost so much to rebuild...
