My father's dog went away into the jungle and died alone when he knew his time had come... He was an alpha dog.. my father searched whole night and finally found him in a creek peacefully laying dead.... That was the day I saw my hardcore superhuman dad cry like a baby for the first time ever. 💔

Oh my god. Yes same our dog Moti, she was having lot of health issues, one day my dad scolded her next day she was not seen. She just left. We couldn't find her 🥲

My cat had done the same thing, he was really sick during lockdown and we couldn't take him to doctor...after tolerating the pain and discomfort for as long as he could, one evening when he was really sick he went away and never came back...we knew it's because he didn't wanted to die in front of us (even sad because when I had realised that I wouldn't be able to help him I use to pray that I don't want to see him dead and have to bury him, I just wouldn't be able to do that and I guess he did that for that reason too)

The Charlie's entry into Dharma's life is like rebirth of his sister. The moment he wakes up from haunting accident of his mom, dad & sister, Charlie is there in front of his door. His sister was fond of icecreams and was opening curtain to annoy Dharma. Charlie also does same annoying things with Dharma.

Karnataka state Chief Minister could not hold his tears after watching this movie. He was crying even while giving a byte to the journalist. Not just him anyone who is an animal lover or just anyone with an emotional character cannot stop their tears while watching this movie. I have seen people coming out of the theaters and still crying. Its a wonderful movie. And Charlie did steal the show and definitely deserve an award. And Rakshit Shetty just took it to a different level. Simply loved it.

At the end, before her death, Charlie was found in a temple for Lord Shiva, the God of End Times and who watches over rebirth. I loved how much the crew put into this. Earlier, Dharma prayed to Lord Hanuman, the Divine Messanger.

Charlie is one dog for entire movie. She is a celebrity now. Also, this movie has Mahabharat reference. Most Indians will get it. This dog gave him purpose in life, which was purposeless. That's why he cared for that dog's wish more than everyone.

There is one deep meaning shown in this movie . In Mahabharata after the war was ended , all pandavas had moved towards the stairs of heaven , with them one dog was also there. Only that dog and udhisthir were able to reach in heaven, that's why the name of the book refers in the movie was 'The tale of dharamaraj in kalyug'.

@@AjinJose137 They committed some mistakes, example Arjun was the reason for the injustice that happened with ekalavya, all pandavas had committed some mistakes. So they all went to hell, even Yudhisthir went to hell to see his brothers because he lied in the war. After all that it was revealed that dog was actually Yama, the father of Yudhisthir and he wanted to see the last journey of his son. Hope I remember correctly, if wrong, sorry..

In the snow scene, Charlie's curiosity to play with snow, thankful look back she gives to Dharma for his efforts and starts running & enjoying the snow, BGM was a heavenly experience in the cinema hall. I watched it alone the first time. After watching a good talk about the movie, my dad requested to take him along for the 2nd time. He didn't go to theatres for the last 20 years. This movie made him go to the movie hall again.

You asked if it was a real story.. well it's actually based on a true incident in the director's life. Especially the last scene when he's sitting holding Charlie in her final moments. The director Kiranraj actually saved and adopted a kitten(not a dog unlike the movie) in his school days. The kitten grew up very attached to him and would wait for him on the porch every single day when he would return from school. One day the kitten, unknowingly, ingested some kind of poison when he was at school and even though it was slowly dying it still came out to wait for him. He too, just like in the movie, sat with the dying kitten in his arms until it's last breath.. [Source: Film Companion South interview of Kiranraj]

they only used 1 dog even for pup scenes.. they waited 2-3 years for the pup to grow up and do the scene. Its mentioned in promo interviews and i was blown away by the dedication of team.

Yes another blockbuster from Kannada industry, this movie made fall in love with pets even though you're not a pet lover. Charlie's acting is so amazing and she is the star now. A great work and dedication by both Kiran raj and Rakshit shetty. Most of the audience cried like Kristen and thanks for your movie review. And I strongly recommend you to watch "Garuda gamana vrushbha vahana" one more masterpiece from kannada industry and you will be amazed after watching this movie.

2:25 the title "the tale of dharmaraj in kalyug" is not just random It's based on the story of dharmaraj (yudhisthir) in dwaparyug in after Mahabharat war, in which he refuses to enter swarg (heaven) without the dog (yamaraj in disguise)who was with him from the starting of the journey, this yug is called kaliyug hence the name

Cats and dogs usually go faaar away and die (if they have enough strength left to walk) so that their parent could/should not see the dying stage of them. Also they give birth to puppies/kittens very secretively and keep them in a safe place (until their eyes get opened and can start walking on their own).

Trivia - "Dharmaraj in Kalyug" In the end chapters of Mahabharata, when Pandavas & Draupadi were climbing a Himalayan mountain to accept death, a stray dog accompanied Yudhishthir. While climbing the mountain Draupadi and all his brothers left Yudhishthir by taking death, but the dog accompanied Yudhishthir to the gate of the heaven alive. When Gods came to accept Yudhishthir and told to leave the dog while entering the heaven, Yudhishthir refused to do so and didn't leave the dog. Gradually the dog took off its disguise and came to original form, Dharmaraj and pleased with Yudhishthir. Thus Yudhishthir became the one and only character of Mahabharata, who entered the Heaven alive.

i have a dog who looks exacty like charlie. this movie was soooo hard for me to watch. the first time i tried to watch it with family, my eyes were puffy and red and i got up before the ending because i simply could not watch it. everytime i think about it i cry so hard. maybe non dog owners think it is dramatic and won't understand, but even the thought of losing my baby is sooo heart wrenching.

While watching the idli scene when dharma called the old lady i cried the most. I think this movie is way above than animal human bond. Dharma used to throw the third idli which the lady gives him ouy of love. And then dharma has to beg to get those three idlis. 😶 Rest is upto u to interpret.

@@priyadarsh2504 He didn't beg from that Aunty. He used to always ask for two idlis, but that lady out of love would give him an extra. Which he would always waste. So now when he has to beg for the same idlis somewhere else he understood the value of it. So he called her but couldn't say anything.

The irony of the movie: He lost all his dear ones due to one dog. Later, he loses everything he has in his loney life and even gives his life completely to this one dear dog who changed his life the other way round

The subtitles are a little messed up actually. In the end while sitting outside of the temple with Charlie, Dharma says, "If you are lucky, a dog will come into your life, only if you are lucky." Which holds a lot of emotion and meaning. Subtitles are different tho. Loved watching this gem again with you guys. 🌸

I watch this pre-climax snow scene and climax again & again, again & again, shed a mug of tears uncontrollably and clean my eyes. I will watch it infinite number of times and still won't get enough of it.

Catharsis!!! An amazing depiction of a Aristotlean style of Tragedy with the Shakespearean comic relief at the end. And Charlie fulfilled every single criteria of a great Tragic Hero, except there was no Tragic flaw at all that led to the demise of the Hero. The gentleman played a great Side-Hero, without trying slightest to seem/look like a star. Phenomenal artist. And the most important of all is the plot, storyline and direction that made it to invoke so much emotion. Very simple but yet a phenomenal piece of art. Loved it.

I had a rabbit for 2 years, which died today and I was devastated but I couldn't cry ,I felt complicated and when I saw him crying at the end I couldn't control myself.I feel somewhat relieved now believing that he went to a better place

@@sagarmars2611 See jaby only watched Rakshit Shetty and K.g.f cinematopgraphy. movies. He knows Rakshit Shetty is most talented director in Kanada. Most of the kannada is mass masala film. I don't mind jaby give more importance to grounded level performence from Kanada Film industry. I don't mind watching charlie 777 with jaby. They watched in orginal language. This open more to north indian south indian to support good films.

Rakshit is some actor ....I mean he is one of the finest actors of this generation across the world... Its very rare like very rare that I cry looking at a movie but this movie and the kind of acting was an absolute top notch and the tears were flowing non stop.
