Blair Christmas working his magic to keep the 777 lads on track on the always tricky Waitaki River. This was the first official race for the big engine, and proved to be a handful before some more fine-tuning to tame the beast.

How difficult is it to drive? is it very forgiving? like when the passenger grabbed the cage, was that a 'no worries' moment, or did a bit of poo come out?

Taken years to try and master reading a river at high speeds 👍 it’s a handful to drive!!! If the nav is grabbing the roll bar - he’s thinking oh sh#t!!!!

@@777RiverRacing you should check out agent jz on youtube. Does the steering wheel turn the water jet or is there something like a rudder?

@@glitchinthematrix5761 considering how shallow the waitaki is in some spots on the course it would be a directional nozzle of the end of the jet pump doing the steering. a rudder of any sort would be sheared right off

@@777RiverRacing Thanks! Just pointed the heavy gauge cables for the starter. Are u using Optima Red tops for starting?

@@barjan82 No optima battery’s are sh#t. They cost me a number of DNS and took me out of the World Event a few years back. We run Odyssey extreme battery’s. 4 of them - this beast is 48 volt to start 👍🔥🔥been a great battery ✅✅

@@777RiverRacing Thanks a lot again! Our experience is also very mixed with the red tops in a experimental configuration. Some batt pairs last up to 6years till the turbine spool starts to feel a bit weaker but EGTs still ok, but recently seen a pair of red tops to fail after only less than two years by one batt of the two in series simply going high ohmmic. Seems that the Odysseys are good choice then.

@@barjan82 I have had 3 red tops fail-one was only 10 starts old. Moved to the odyssey battery’s after a heap of research and found them to be way superior than the red tops. Only down side is the weight. My understanding is the red tops quality dropped once they started getting made in Mexico.
