I’ve owned both more than once. A good dct is better than any zf8 I’ve ever driven. G80 M3, Porsche Cayenne Turbo, B9 RS5, xhp tuned ZF8’s. They are awesome and can feel like a dct, but a proper dct like a Pdk, the Mk8 R Dsg, etc are definitely better for performance than a ZF8. You know that ZF makes an 8 speed Dct? Why would they even make the dct if the torque converter is better? That’s because it isn’t. You’ve watched too many reviews of people saying it’s better than the dct when it really isn’t. It can be better than older dct’s or crappy dct’s, but outright performance with all things being equal goes to a proper dct. Zf8 is more than good enough for a street car in terms of (up)shift speed and quality, we really don’t need better.

And what modern DCT has been proven to hold the power of say a 7675 Turbo commonly used in lots of fast RB cars ? @@PapiAndrey

Some 8hp70 boxes are weaker. Ex from a jeep although it is rated at 700nm.

8HP70 is good till 1200nm

@@emersonflores580 yes same gearbox. youll go through the clutches in the A clutch pack fast at that power level if they are stock. you can upgrade clutches entire trans and add an extra clutch to the a pack for about 2k and it will hold 1000hp/ft lbs all day long. i have a pure drivetrain solutions built stage 8hp75 in my car and its rated for 1600ft lbs. my car makes 1300whp 1150ft lbs and it drives like stock. never misses a shift even at 8500 rpm and 40 psi of boost.

The last digits of the 8hp state the maximum torque it's rated too. The 45 =450nm 50=500nm etc people go the 70 because even stock pretty much handles that or a bit more no problem. I have a built 8hp 70 rated to 1600nm going into my 700rwhp fj 45 barra swapped land cruiser with the dvt sequential shifter. I can not wait to drive it

I have seen zf8hp shift way faster than this though, must be in settings, or maybe if used the newer 8hp75 instead of 70

the 8hp dont have problems. literally the best trans ive ever had, and i have a bunch of race cars etc over the years.
