79 SERIES LANDCRUISER INTERIOR REFRESH! CUSTOM PARTS! GROUND BREAKING BUILD

Thanks for joining me again guys! This week we're doing a full refresh of the interior on the 79! I pulled the dash, cleaned all the ducting behind it, repainted the dash, then refitted it and added some custom parts from the 105 series parts car. Also a black vinyl floor, shiny shift knobs, and XR6 falcon seats were installed.

For plastic trim I've found scuffing it with a Green dish scourer, not as harsh on the plastic as sandpaper and conforms to all the bumps and ridges.

Tip to get the seat back I’ve got those seats on my 79 set the seat where you like it and take the reclining knob off just pull outwards and they go back sweet

2013+ 70 series come stock with black seat belts 👍 might be able to pick up a set at the wreckers

Thanks for the tip mate, I've seen them in black on ebay but they're pretty expensive. I'm going to try painting the grey ones first and see how that goes

You could swap the seats left to right that might fix it from hitting

Thought about that but then the lever to push them forward would be on the other side of the seat so would be a bit awkward. When its at a comfortable angle and the headrest is on the back wall it only just hits

Yeah I'm loving it mate! The brackets I got were for the bucket and bench so yeah the 3 seater, hurracan do a few options, have a look on their website 🤙

What was pullin the dash out like? I really wanna paint my Interior but I’m abit worried about pulling the whole dash out 😂

It really wasn't that hard hey, only took about 2 hours to get it out. If you're just painting it you wouldn't need to remove all the ducting off it, I did that to clean all the dust out of them. The tricky bit is finding all the hidden bolts, there are two in the top corners that go into the firewall hiding under a little cover, and the two passenger airbag bolts up under the glovebox are a bit hidden too.

Nice video mate. Not sure where the build is at now, but how is the painted dash and steering wheel holding up? Im seriously considering doing this to my steel dash interior but am a bit unsure about how the steering wheel would hold up to being painted seeing at my 76 series is driven everyday.

Thanks mate. I’m not dailying it yet but will be soon. I was worried about the colour coming off the wheel so I have a leather cover on it. That said the wheel did seem to take on a hell of a lot of paint so it’s probably soaked in a long way, I might run it without the cover just find out how well it holds up. Haven’t had any dramas with the dash and I bashed it around a fair bit getting it in and then doing the speakers and head unit

@@RQProjects Question, how long did the spray paint smell hang around? Im doing a test piece at the moment in the garage and want sure how long that smell stayed for you. Also, does it smell like paint if you park in the sun?
