Great review! Just started practicing manual focus with an old Nikon 50mm lens on my Lumix S1H and was blown away by the colors, sharpness, and burry background when shooting wide open. and, handheld manual focusing is just a matter of getting the feeling in your right hand. Only after 10 minutes I started to anticipate movements of the actors and came even close to AF.

@@PavSZ price wise they are almost in the same category. I shoot mostly music videos and portraits and have too choose between these 2, which would you recommend?

@@kevzko does sharpess matter the 1.8 is way sharper. If you don't care and just want shallow DOF then the .095

I got the lens, you are a better filmmaker than me - so your footage is awesome, but I do like the lens but I wish I'd bought the Panny 50mm

thanks! I had a lot of practice over the years. I do have the Panny 50mm and I prefer to film with this - can't beat hard stops on the focus ring

What adapter do you use to shoot those macro images? -As the lens has a minimum close focus distance of 0.57m... Of course you do not crop in, because then the review of the lens would be seriously flawed..

there is no macro images done with this lens in this review, just a bunch of close-ups. I have possibly used very old Sigma close-up screw on filter on couple of the photos but I am guessing it now. I've made this review over 2 years ago, I had to watch it again and I think 99% of the images here are without the filters or any major crops

Hi. Thx for review. I have this lens + s5. At any value on the aperture ring, the camera displays f 0.0. Is this the ok?

yes. there is no electronic contact between the lens and the camera for the lens to tell the camera the aperture value
