Loved this, thanks! I like the mixing in of some secular curriculum! Definitely helps the kiddos become well-rounded in their education.

Hymn study sounds nice! Theater classes sound wonderful, too. Life skills are so important. I don't know of any apologetics books for this age range.

Hey CJ! One of my daughters also plays the violin!! Thanks for sharing your Middle School Curriculum choices - I have a 7th grader this year for the first time - love that I can learn from others homeschool moms that have already done that grade 💙

It's going to be a great school year! We use a combo of secular and Christian books as well. Your history program looks awesome!

Your school is so well rounded! I look up to y’all. I will be modeling some of our high school after yours once my kids get older. ❤

For apologetics I’m considering a case for Christianity

I like the life skills book and Youth apologetics. We also have started to use the Teen bible and do bible studies daily.

We are doing Anatomy this year too! I love what you said about History. More and more I’m convinced to use multiple resources too and not just one set curriculum that doesn’t include extra books. Good video, CJ!

Yes to using secular and Christian books for history in the upper levels. This definitely helps with being critical thinkers and understanding POV.

Masterbooks has just come out with a hymn study called Foundations in Worship. It looks very intriguing. 🙂

I swear I commented but I must have not hit the button. Simply Charlotte Mason has picture studies that we used for fine arts when we did AO a long time ago. We really enjoyed looking at beautiful pictures and studying about different arts.

So fun to see your selections! Another title to consider pairing with Zinn’s A People’s History is “Debunking Howard Zinn” by Mary Graber. I’ve read both and plan to share contrasting chapters with my high schoolers for both historical “perspectives” as well as discussions on worldviews, logic, citing sources, etc. I think both books have weaknesses (if not outright flaws particularly with Zinn) as well as useful and valid points, and we can be reminded that God’s Word is our ultimate arbiter of truth. Hope you have a lovely year in your homeschool!

Your history lineup looks great. I hope to focus on Science and History this year, but I still feel lacking in our main History curriculum. We will be using some of the same readers though:) Thanks again for some of the suggestions. Love the all-rounded approach. ❤

Have you considered heritage mom hymn study? I know it may be geared towards younger kids but maybe that can be a base and the adding on for their needs?

Yes! I’ve been researching it. I appreciate you tuning in. 🌻
