What is my 7th grader going to using to study literature, practice grammar, and hopefully have more fun this year??
We've already revealed a lot of what we're doing for our 7th grader homeschool this year. We're giving Brave Writer a try in many different ways. We're customizing language arts curriculums we've used in the past, and we're stepping away from the fun & animated online Teaching Textbooks 4.0 in order to fill in some math gaps.
But wait, Johnny.....there's more!!!! That's what this video is about!

We have read all five of The Vanderbeeker series and my kids are so excited about the sixth one coming out in September. They are 5th and 7th grade. We have loved that series! Because of Winn Dixie is one of my daughter’s all time favorite books as well. Hope you all have a great year!

I loved the Midwife's Apprentice when it first came out...my 1st year as a librarian. I really enjoyed it, as it is a look at life in the middle ages.

So I was way off when I said 1800’s! 😂 but yeah, I think the historical fiction is so interesting for learning about the time period with an engaging story!

I’ve been looking on The Brave Writer’s site trying to figure this out so I didn’t need to but you, but do you know the difference of have any advise about the different age levels (arrow etc) vs The Writer’s Jungle book? Thank you!
@OurHOMEschoolPlan
@OurHOMEschoolPlan Жыл бұрын
I do not understand everything about Brace Writer. That’s definitely the challenge to choosing their curriculum. The arrow guides, etc are lit guides based on age. Dart is youngest, arrow elementary, boomerang, upper elementary to high school. The jungle book writers guide, I think, is more about the WRITING programs. So we use the Faltering ownership curriculum which is learning to write, but still needing help. So literature guides vs writing guides. The writers jungle (from what I understand….so I may be wrong) is the overall guide for all of their writing curriculums. But everything in. That is also in the curriculum.

How does your family like Brave Writer so far?
@OurHOMEschoolPlan

I like the creative ideas for the writing assignments. We’re struggling a bit with completing them and doing them well but that has more to do with my daughter’s attitude towards work than Brave Writer. We have not started the arrow guide yet. I’m anxious to though. We have started reading the Vanderbeekers of 141st street aloud and the book is so fun so I’m excited to try to the arrow guide!

Tomorrow we will start with Mr. Popper's Penguins. My daughter is 9 and my son is 12, technically he should be arrow, but I feel a review will be good for him. Sending good vibes.

@@OurHOMEschoolPlan yes it's a dart. I believe it falls perfect for my 9 year old, it seems a little to easy for my 12 year old. However, he does struggle a little more than my daughter (9) so I think it will be a good starting place.
