I especially love the detail of beginning with the 1940s "You Like It, It Likes You" bathing-beauty girl. I always kind of pictured her as an Esther Williams underwater ballet type though. :-)

The reason I remember this commercial so much is because at home we had a black and white TV, and my Uncle had just got a new color TV, and this was one of the first things I saw on it. Like WOW!!!

I'm more impressed with what the producers created back then with low-tech than most of the crapola that people do with hi-tech these days.

Back when our industry didn't rush, cheat, use computers and cut corners. This had some computer involvement but was mostly done by hand three years before Star Wars came out. I continue to believe we need to put computers back in the "use sometimes" box and go back to traditional, hand-drawn and hand-painted animation.

Fabulous. A product of the "more is more" school of advertising.

Damn, I haven't seen this commercial since I was five (yeah, I'm that old and ancient--pre-Internet & all) --talk about a flashback to the past! I do remember the part where the P.O.V. goes right through the big U in the word UNCOLA, the butterfly ladies, and that rainbow zooming across the sky. I love rainbows anyway---here in the Midwest, you can usually see one in the sky right after a summer rainstorm. I also grew up on 7UP as my main summer drink next to Koolaid--I'm still drinking it today

@@jeronimoadames7961 The environment was already destroyed by the 1970s, when this guy was five. You can hardly blame him, and this is hardly the place for your non-sequitur. Try reading some actual books, like 'Silent Spring'.

I don't remember this ad but I do remember the jingle 35 years later. 7up commercials don't exsist anymore. You don't even think to run to the store for a 7up. That's crazy not to advertise.

This was all photography tricks actually, NO computers. Although computer animation was just getting its start around this time (with Scanimate, which was more of an analog video synthesizer) this wasn't created using such a system. Therefore, I've always been astounded at what Robert Abel and Associates were able to pull off with what they had. That's talent.
