Making over 8,000 horsepower, this MONSTER of a top fuel nitro powered beast swings around on the skid pad burnings a TON of fuel in the process - 85 liters to be exact costing over $1,000! Compared to the other skid cars at this event, this thing is one of a kind…insane!

It doesn’t need a lot of air ... nitromethane has a very high oxygen density. It’s almost an explosive on that basis.

You need more room for a proper show. That's just common sense, especially for that 8000 horsepower monster. It's like trying to put a rhino in a hamster cage.

Look up "Ben Bray Summernats". It can be done ;). His Dad is kinda the burnout king in drag racing. Blew everyone away with a 57 chev at like, the 3rd Summernats, with a fast, long, huge smoke, burnout, back in the 80s.

I stood next to a car called Blue Thunder when it was revving at a car show one day. It was 3,000 HP and did 6.32 second quarter miles - you FELT the sound more than you heard it. Can't imagine standing next to this car when it's revving.

People are going to be bitching about how it's not full power but remember these engines run for a few seconds on max power before needing a rebuild and the spark plugs are usually burnt away within 3 seconds of full throttle.

M-O-N-E-Y or the lack of it. All the same hardware but behind the curve in tuning it.. I will say this Aussies and Kiwi's know what they are doing when it comes to tuning Mistubishi's, Nissan's, Subaru's, Ford's and Holden (Chevy motors) but hopeless with burning nitro Top Fuel/Funny Car stuff.

the Australian record is in the low 4.50's and speed record was 336mph set at last years opening round (infact Larry Dixon was in the other lane on that run and went 332mph)...

J Bin - Do they run 1000' or 1320' down under? 4.50 is ~8/10's slower than NHRA up here...and 336 mph sounds awful damn fast. My guess would be, that they run a full 1/4.

That's because we MEN in Australia still run Category 1 drag cars over the 1320 instead of shutting it down at 1000ft. That's why the time is slower, but the trap speed is higher dude

If you watched the live feed, he was having some problems with the set up on the Sat but absolutely burnt the house down on the Sunday... I can't understand why they posted this instead of the ripper skid he did the next day. The thing was going off tap for 2 and a half mins on Sunday, the craziest thing ever

Not much of a performance by Aussie burnout car standards (even kinda seemed like it was struggling NOT to get traction, but choked down like it is I'm sure the powerband is super weird), but having been in the presence of fuel cars I can 100% assure you it's a hell of a thing in person. Awesome.

It wasn't running right and he was having issues and on Sundays live feed. It was more cooler then Saturdays one. Please watch 1320video live stream for Saturday and you'll see what I mean. Also the people doing the commerty on Sunday said it wasn't running right.

Are you sure about that.... I forgot but I think it takes 400-500 hp just to turn the supercharger. Since everybody has the same blower, nobody is concerned about that. NHRA currently doesn't allow turbos in Top Fuel/Funny Car. But if they did, how long do you think it would take for Borg Warner or Garrett to come up with turbos large enough to flow 8,000 hp? The main concern is lag but I somehow think burning nitro might solve some of that problem.

+SRT V10 it would in theory but the lack of downforce from the zoomies would be bad overall there is plenty of exhaust flow to spool a turbo almost instantly and it would make the same power but all that exhaust gas would be sucked into the engine rather then providing downforce that's how powerful the exhaust actually is
