I am brazilian too. Every time I hear this composition it reminds me how beautiful and rich is our legacy from the past, that brings us hope and optimism at present days and to the future generations. Not only to my country but all over the world. Thank you all for this beautiful performance !

When I was a child in the 50's in Utah this was the theme music for the Sunday movie on TV. The series was the Kennecott Neighborhood Theater. Tried for years to find out what it was.

Excellent interpretation , I'm from Mexico , some day come here to play those super musical and equal subjects are given one versus the Symphony Orchestra breaths of the Mexican Federal Police , I think that would be a great explocion musical notes as excellent musicians , Greetings friends.

The band was unable to perform the piece correctly in the intro. The accenting of the notes and the running tempo were not correct. Such execution errors removed the solemn tone of the introduction, a passage such that it is surely the most striking point of the work. For the rest of the execution however they were very happy to speed up the execution, making the piece look much more difficult than it really is. Such speed in execution made it look a lot like William Tell Overture's cavalry section. Anyway, it was, in general, a good execution, and it certainly enhanced the work of the Brazilian Carlos Gomes.

Concordo que o "viralatismo" aqui passou dos limites... Os capachos que sonham em lavar privadas gringas (de preferência com as sacrossantas fezes ianques dentro) escrevem em inglês na esperança de um gringo ler e pensar "oh, they are so cute".. Mas... Tu és monarquista amigo? Só te lembrando que o véio que vc idolatra ficou 49 anos no poder e nunca aboliu a escravidão, e sua filha o fez em uma linha para atender a pressão inglesa e porque o veio gagá estava em Paris...

@@fabiohenriqueelorza7095 amigo, o "velho" viveu e morreu pelo Brasil; foi o maior brasileiro de todos os tempos. O golpe republicano foi um crime hediondo. Muitos se tornaram republicanos por causa do fim da escravidão. Dom Pedro I e II eram antiescravocratas, não eram imperadores absolutistas que poderiam acabar com a escravidão numa canetada...A sociedade, a mentalidade da época era totalmente escravocrata. Escravos forros, compravam seus escravos.. Na república que vivemos, existe mais escravidão do que houve na monarquia. A monarquia nunca foi um elo ou ente de fomentar a escravidão.
