I knew Warhammer was gonna win. Last year I knew nothing about the 40K universe and when I started learning about how ridiculous and hardcore it was I realized just how insane 40K is. Everything in 40K is turned up to 11 everyday and there is no turning back from the brutality of its universe. 40K is like Australia if everyone had a gun, everything was on fire, the wildlife had anti-tank weapons, and the demons from Doom were invading. Honestly surprised that the UNSC beat out the Federation for the number 2 spot. I also can't believe that I didn't get the Starship Troopers reference till he spelled it out.

The moment you made the first video I knew 40k would win no matter what other factions come up and here we are. Also not surprised the Seperatists lost to the Empire despite their Navy being quite clearly superior. Same with the previous series about ground forces. The series was fun but the votes really were way more about which faction was more popular.

About the UNSC Navy; There is a CRITICAL difference in technology in their ships from before the Human-Covenant and after it. Yes before the UNSC had inferior technology but by the time of Halo 4 the new mainline cruiser the Autumn-Class (named after the famous Halcyon-Class Pillar of Autumn) replaced the Marathon-Class and with innovation between Human, Covenant, and Forerunner tech merged together in weapons, armor, shielding, and engines changed it from it requirement 3 UNSC ships to defeat a single Covenant ship of a similar class to having 1 UNSC being able to take on two or three Covenant ships of a similar class. In Spartan OPS, when see the UNSC Infinity ram a CCS-Class Battlecruiser and then just keep on fighting with little to no damage.

While I agree that the Covenant is pretty racist you have to realize that a lot of the roles given to each species were the roles that each race excelled at. The Jackals for example are excellent snipers and the Brutes are extremely great shock troopers. You wouldn’t want to give the Brutes sniper duties for example because they’d likely fail everytime.

If you guys have a horse in this race that wasn't the highest rank. Don't worry, because it isn't about the "how"... it's the "why." Or rather what I mean is, it's better to look at the context of 'why' the way things are in each of these franchises over 'how' can something destroy something else. *Star Trek* deals with a small cast of characters expected to take on and adapt to difficult situations. Overcoming these situations requires the ingenuity of the cast of characters in combination to the technology at their disposal like a ship like the USS Enterprise. They are often alone with their technology, there is often no help from other Starfleet vessels; so there is leeway given on how this technology can perform. This is why things like photon torpedoes have yields. If something can't be destroyed it only means that there was not enough power in the torpedo/phaser or the problem can only be overcome by something else (often another tool of technology or a character's epiphany). *Star Wars,* it goes with saying, is an adventure story. And the variety of elements facility this adventure. The Empire for example is a force of oppression and terror, rather than war in this setting; thus the ships, soldiers, and vehicles reflect this. Walkers, for example, are impractical but they are also intimidating and visually striking. Speed is another example of this, as it is also trivialized in this franchise. Not because the writers like George Lucas were lazy, rather accounting for the 'time it takes' gets in the way of moving the plot forward, so ships are faster. *Warhammer 40k* is base on a table-top miniatures wargame. The striking visuals of the characters and setting are an important aspect to this table top. You physically build these miniatures and customize them. Thus the setting is more about the spectacle of the fight and the immensity of the setting, where these customized miniatures could be doing their own badass thing in their corner of the universe without getting in the way of lore.

Using Forerunner and Covenant tech, reverse engineering it, using in their ships and ground forces and you get most efficient navy. And let's be honest we Halo fans are glad that you didn't include Forerunner navy. They are straight up OP even for Imperial Navy

While the imperium is powerful, you have to remember that it's operating at only a fraction of its true technological level.

Personally, I subscribe to the theory that Palpatine authorized the creation of the Death Star because he foresaw the invasion of the Yuuzhan Vong worldships and knew that even a fleet of Super Star Destroyers wouldn't be enough to take those out quickly and efficiently.

As I was watching this video: I still stand by my higher rating for the Covenant simply because of their tech. No corporation can ever overpower a proper military. Watch Templin's video on why they don't work as governments. GOOD The Empire is under the UNSC. Starfleet deserves to be WAY lower. UNSC ships are actually really good. And the guys in space, I think, were WAY braver than any other UNSC military force.

The UNSC ships had ablative armor, which is designed to break apart in order to soak up impact energy. This same armor is used on the M1 Abrams tank

Wanting to say something as a massive warhammer fan as a lot of people are bashing on it but are missing a key point. A lot of people are basically saying that warhammer is op and silly and childish and always wins however I feel that they are missing something. Halo, Star Wars, star treck etc etc are all science fiction. The genre of science fiction is to basically be a semi realistic and grounded futuristic setting. Warhammer isn’t and doesn’t claim to be science fiction is a futuristic dystopian fantasy. It doesn’t have to play by the same rules and doesn’t have to be realistic. I agree it’s probably not a good idea to put them in these comparisons as they are on a different scale and exists within a general of different rules. I think warhammer is special for this and has an incredibly interesting universe that offers something different, a lot of people who don’t know much about the lore (I mean no dis respect) have this idea that it’s some power fantasy for kids but this isn’t the case, much of the lore is based around a desperate struggle for survival and is about human fear and courage in the face of impossible odds. Most futuristic settings show humanity as this great, unified force for good and technology and progression but warhammer is the opposite of that as it is pure grim dystopian and the setting was made from a table top wargame so the lore is going to be that of all out war. I don’t think it should be put in these comparisons videos as it’s not a fair comparisons as they can’t really lose although I feel it’s worth keeping them in to discus them but perhaps not ranking them? That’s topic for another discussion but to those that feel the lore is childish and silly I ask you to pick up one of the many novels and give it a read and you may be surprised at the level of depth this universe has to offer. It’s not for everyone I get that but I think it’s a unique setting worth looking into with an open mind.

I feel like you should do a top list of bug like factions, like the arachnids, tyranids and zurg. Would be fun to see what you can dig up

*New list: best Enemy Alien fleets.* You can't have a space battle without two sides, okay six sides in *40k.* And it's the villain you prove your mettle against, a formidable foe you still manage to overcome (or just survive against - *HALO)* that makes the victory even sweeter. Conversely losing to a rag tag bunch of rebels with your own tech is downright embarrassing. But I suppose they should be included as they had a lot of aliens in their organization _"Xeno lovers"_ *spits* Without them it's just a endless series of wargames and fleet maneuvers, so let's decide on the rules for choosing contenders. Most IP's are humanity vs one implacable foe, but there are a few that get more complicated. Now for *40k* choices will have to be made. *Chaos marines* seem obvious, but really they're just twisted humans with the same basic gear, but *Orks* have completely different physics and are so OP vs fantasy orcs. And the *Tau* are interesting because they are a multi species federation with high minded ideals and technological advancement, they're practically *Starfleet in 40k.* Perhaps do *Orcs and Tau,* the big list of enemies IP's get two bites. And that leads to *Starfleet* and the *Federation.* The *Dominion* is a good choice. A caste system with a formidable soldier type loyal unto death. A diplomatic and strategic class that aided in their devious planning and subterfuge, getting potential rivals to fight each other, and general misdirection of intentions. And then the bosses, who are powerful shapeshifters (one could travel at warp unaided), and brutal ruthless opponents, also masters of subterfuge and misdirection as well as long term machiavellian planners. But since *Strat Trek* has so many villains, the *Borg* as well. Just don't include too much of Janeways neutering of them. *TNG Borg* are scarier. The *Borg* can do double duty in yet another series I just thought up… *Most formidable enemy ships* Although for that I recommend not using *Dominion* ships but going with the *Kremin* weapon ship - exist out of time, erasing whole species from existence, it has the best first strike capability of any ship, not bang your dead, but you were _never alive._ _Let us _*_judge_*_ the _*_xeno scum_*_ our brave men and women will be killing._

Imo the UNSC was rated high due to their flexibility. The fact that they were able to defeat the Covenant at all (even with their incompetent leadership) is pretty impressive.

I like how they kept showing clips of the Infinity during their initial gripes about the UNSC. It felt like the editor was trying to show it as a counterpoint to what they were saying.

The series was fun. But whatever ranking you are going to do next should be less about absolute numbers than efficiency etc. Relative in universe stuff should not matter. Instead it should be more about how effective their ships are and how sensible the designs are and how their society impacts the navy or whatever you are ranking.

The sheer lack of understanding of the Covenant, and Halo lore, is just.... Hilarious. And they think they can evaluate the militaries of the Halo universe? Equally as hilarious an assertion. The reason Master Chief could find out that the Halo arrays are WMDs is in several large reasons. First among them, the 'Oracles' like Guilty Spark didn't and don't follow the instructions of the Prophets. They rarely answer questions unless they are direct and applicable to where that Monitor is. Guilty Spark, for instance, would not have answered questions about the Ark until he was himself stationed there awaiting his new Hallo array's completion. He also did NOT mention the Ark when explaining the purpose of the arrays to Cortana and Chief. Cortana also did what the Covenant would not, tearing into Forerunner data and disassembling t irreparably. Taking it into her being, whereas Covenant AI is nowhere near advanced - or unshackled - enough to allow that. Assuming that the Prophets would even allow it to do that if it WERE advanced and unshackled enough to manage it. Or that they'd listen to what it had to say if it proved to contradict the religious instructions of the Prophets. And finally, the Prophets are suppressing the truth. In Halo 2 you literally go on a mission as the Arbiter to massacre a force that found out what the truth of the Sacred Rings was, because SOMEONE broke the religious laws and asked an Oracle directly about it. It isn't that the Covenant is 'stupid' like you misrepresent so cavalierly, it's that the Prophets want to maintain their controls. Anyone who finds out what the Monitors know, and what the Rings do, is killed or otherwise silenced. The Prophets also wage a war on Humanity to prevent the loss of their power, because the OTHER THING you neglected to mention in your videos is that the UNSC gets so much more out of Forerunner tech than the Covenant so much more easily because THEY are the Reclaimers. Genetically identified as Human and thus granted basically Admin keys to... Whatever Forerunner tech is around. Humans had the liberal virtues to question and experiment freely the Rings and the Monitors, the free idea exchange to share the answers, and Admin Keys to ALL of the answers just by simply asking for them.

I can't recall the game long ago (Klingon Academy?), I always enjoyed playing as the Klingon Heavy Cruiser. It could kick some butt however obviously it's also fun playing as any human ship. I agree though the Borg probably have the better ships since they are very adaptive after a few shots get through.

If you do another series, a couple of suggestions: the colonial fleet from Battlestar Galactica, The Minbari/Rangers whitestar fleet from Babylon 5, and the Zentradi and Earth fleets from Robotech.

This series was a lot of fun and well thought out. I was wondering if any thought was given to anime based navies as I'm sure the Robotech Defense Forces would fair well.

I think the whole "Their culture is regressive" argument is so subjective that taking it into account in rating is highly flawed and better just as a side mention. Like the covenant for example: Their culture not innovative and stupid? That's hard to swallow considering that they still reversed engineered highly advanced tech. True humanity has some good things like AI but starting on a garbage pile (humanity) and reaching a good height compared to using high ground to go even higher (the covenant reverse engineering the advanced tech they have) doesn't change the fact that the latter is smarter for doing so. I mean so they reversed engineered technology. So what? We humans do it all the time to each other and if we found Forerunner tech we would do it too! Heck they were able to conquer and maintain a large Empire with multiple species under it. That needs smarts and considering the Prophets and elites ran the whole damn thing the Covenant are smart. Not the smart we appreciate but smart regardless. The universe is rather fatal to true idiots. And no I'm not a Xeno lover so put that phone to the Inquisition down. I'm just respecting my enemy so I can effectively purge them
