I don't know what people actually think, but for me, as much as balance does matter, it isn't the most important thing in a game. most games are not balanced. Especially games that are supposedly being updated every now and then. What truly matters is that the dev really cares about the game. That gives me the reassurance that whatever issue the game has, the game will continue to be worked on and these issues will eventually be fixed. And the fact that you are here everyday checking on the game, the features, the balance, the bugs, and everything else and you continue to show us how far you can push the "balance" of the game, winning and playing an enjoyable game without having to stick to the meta and what not, means that the game in and of itself is enjoyable. Sometimes the game might feel bad or unbalanced, but its more about getting into a tricky situation and not knowing how to problem solve it in the best way instead of the game actually being impossible to play. So, thank you for all the hard work!

Every time Mort brings up the "which video game is actually balanced", I always see multiple people mentioning StarCraft, but he never talks about that. I'd be curious to hear his opinion on it, as this is genuinely considered a very balanced game.

"What video game is actually balanced?" (Mort's question at 5:05). The peak of balanced multiplayer games is Deep Rock Galactic. It's not a competitive pvp game, but a class based PVE game. Each class feels equally as useful as one another with none outperforming another overall.

What is balanced? The meaning of “balanced” can be different depending on who asks and who answers. The definition of balance can be linked to the goal of balance in my opinion. For example. Some could say that balance must be the ability to win no matter the position you are in at the time that you are in it. Some would say that balance has no firsts and last places. I think the goal for tft “balance” is the most enjoyable experience for the most amount of users while also making it have a high learning curve for the competitive side of tft as well. I think they are doing as well as they can personally.

Single player games need to be balanced in the sense that if it's too easy, you can lose interest or if it's too hard (as in feeling unfair) you can get too frustrated.

Rocket league is the most balanced competitive game I can think of

Balance is a complicated definition, i see it as "plurality of strategies who can result in sucess" so if a game have multiple ways to obtain victory its "balanced", but its no key to sucess/fun/engagement of a game. A game can be poorly balanced and still be extremely fun and people play it because its fun even if balance isn't very good; on the other hand there can be games who can be balanced and be not fun.

A more competitive pvp game that might actually be balanced is ... Elden Ring. The multiplayer component of it.

I actually prefer single player games to be stacked against the player - it gives me something to overcome. Idk why people care so much about this - imbalance, especially changing imbalance in multiplayer games, makes them more entertaining play because it stays fresh.

I hate all the balancing talk and perception, for my roguelike, the only balanced part will be base stats. I want about every single upgrade to feel like a HIT in atleast 50% of situations, and let the players go bonkers and enjoy their mad scientist fantasies. THE DREAM.

I am honestly not sure if a perfectly balanced tft would be the most fun tft. i think a lot of the fun is about finding the broken stuff and maximize it. in a perfectly balancedd game it would either not matter or leave even less room to wiggle cuz everything would have to be perfect on the board. the patches and meta shifts keep the game alive, a perfectly balanced game would get tiresome and be boring.
