Filmed in April, this video took roughly 2 months to complete. Partly because my life is unstructured, partly because I have a part-time job, and partly because I've decided to not push myself hard on any front of life for the time being.
I've been learning how to live differently for the past 7 months, and maybe since mom died. It's been just about 19 months since, and several of you have noted that I've changed a lot.
I've gradually accepted the change that's been happening externally and internally, and have decided and reified that decision that I am enjoying this new self quite a bit. Even though this means the videos that I make no longer seem completely familiar to many viewers, I hope that some of you continue to enjoy accompanying me.
Blaise Pascal wrote in his Pensées, published posthumously in 1670: “The only thing which consoles us for our miseries is diversion, and yet this is the greatest of our miseries.”

June ya know i luv ya and i'm sure this vid will be great, i'm like 3 1/2 min in. i know what you mean, but i needed to say if you are addicted to alcohol and your body is dependent on it, you actually CAN die from trying to cold turkey quit it on your own. please don't do that people. please get professional medical help.

Hey June - resident Turkish person checking in. Tarhana is actually a soup! Its main ingredients are yogurt, tomato, and flour. The ingredients are mixed and the mixture is fermented for a few days and then dried. Afterwards, it is reconstituted with water and, most of the time, topped with dried mint after serving. Here are the ingredients in your batch: Cow's milk, yogurt, chickpeas, fava beans, lentils, red peppers, tomatoes, pepper paste, tomato paste.

This is a fantastic work of art video! Who else can make all kinds of unique recipes, take care of Grandma, work, go to school, see friends, discuss eating disorders and generally philosophize about capitalism, societal expectations of women and our bodies, plus more? Plus put music to all of it. This had to be a thousand hours of editing. I enjoyed, learned, resonated...Thank you for sharing yourself, June. Appreciate.

June, you have no idea how much of an impact your videos have to your audience-especially this most recent video. Your openness to share your journey is so very much appreciated. Our lives align in so many ways - from being 30-something, to ending a long term relationship, to being asexual, and finally disordered eating- it’s almost been therapeutic watching you share your life in your videos. It’ brings comfort knowing I’m not alone as I figure out life. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️

my sister took her life two years ago and my love for food largely went with her. my wife had to cook because even being in the kitchen would have me falling to the floor sobbing for a whole year. in the last few days ive been watching a lot of your videos and slowly its like some limbs are coming back to life - the food loving parts of me i suppose - and im now planning on trying a bunch of new things. cooking them, even. i cannot thank you enough for sharing your life, though i know it is brief, because it has instilled hope i didnt think existed anymore. love from scotland

I'm so happy to have found you again. I'm also very sorry for everything that happened to you since the last challenges with Delish. F them! You pulled me thru in the beginning of 20220 with the pandemic and my parents who passed away end 2019. Thank you so much for that. You got me cooking again. I'll be forever grateful to you. Take care! You are stronger than you think. And yes, cooking for oneself turns easily into snacking. It's pretty common. You'll get there! Love.

I'm only 15 minutes in, and want to say thank you June for being so vulnerable. While i can relate some to the disordered eating, your reflection on why you do it can apply to other ways we/I emotionally react (like overspending). I love this long form, it's like a jam packed book. Your watch some, put it down for a day, mull over the ideas, then pick it up again. ❤

You were the only part of Delish I watched and I love your content snd videos now (though I remain partial to an insane budget video - it’s one of my favorite genres). It feels weird to say this but I care about you. I’ve watched a lot of your older videos 2-3 times snd I love the way you approach ingredients and how open you are about the hard parts. They have come out when I needed a king, comforting video and I would save them as long as I could. < hugs >

As someone who grew up in China where the beauty standards are insanely strict on women and who happen to naturally be on the thicker side on the spectrum (well I mean thicker by Chinese standards but thin by American standards), I can totally relate to your body image issue and weight issue. There was a period of time where I would only eat things that I would consider healthy and feel guilty about any other options out there. I'm trying to rebuild my relationship with food right now and no longer limiting myself to a certain category of food. Thanks June for sharing your thoughts and journey with us! It's truely soothing to watch you cook and talk.

I am the mom of a little girl with a poor appetite, and there isn't that many things that she likes either. While I ocationally of course worry about her, I am listening to you and other people I hear that have had their relationship with food become problematic. I just try and relax and let her do her thing, and hopefully she can have a wonderful relationship with food when she grows up. Or it will be the same, and that is OK as well.

FWIW: when I was young, I liked very few foods, didn't have a big appetite, and was quite thin. My parents didn't pay much attention to it, (this was more due to hands off 70s/80s style parenting, and not really a thought through strategy) and as an adult it all went away, and I am a pretty adventurous eater. I even love vegetables now.

As someone who as been overweight all her life (I have also lost in total through the years probably more than 300 pounds by dieting and over exercising), I have a really complex relationship with food. Or I restrict and limite my intake (weighing food, avoid specific food, not eating even if hungry) or I eat without conscience because it numbs me. When you are fat, that disorder shows to the world and comes with a lot of judgments… if not hate: “fat people are lazy, they have no motivation, they are gross, they are filthy, the don’t care, they gave up”. Everyday of my life I walk on the street knowing I’m judged. For the moment, I’m dieting, exercising and losing weight, but guilt is a big part of my brain…don’t know if one day I’ll be better…this is the battle of my life…thoughts for everyone, of any size who lives through this…

I've started helping every week at my friend's herb farm where the kitchen work looks somewhat like what goes on in yours. Except it's more about fresh herbs, given food, food rescued at the end of functions, and whatever grain Eva cooked for the week. This is a brilliant video and I am glad you are still creating.

These videos ground completely and gently in what's real and good alongside what's fearful and uncomfortable. They inspire cooking and eating like a flow. Like a river? TY June for all this honesty and rawness in video form. This week has been tough, but I purchased a new tracking watch to see my sleep patterns and exercise a little everyday. Trying to make little things fun and traceable instead of a chore 💕

June, coming from someone who is probably twice your age and has gained some wisdom during my life, I would say that you are right on track. Life will not be without some pain and problems. You seem to be very insightful and honest in looking at yourself. I enjoy your videos and look forward to watching you grow through these things that are hard for you right now. I believe you will get to a time/place where it doesn't seem quite so hard. Just keep doing the next best thing that feels right to you!

I am SO glad this channel exists. This week I found your old series and have fallen in awe of your talent and personality. I've been inspired and encouraged to keep learning how to cook tasty food I can afford. I'm glad I can keep supporting you in an independent place. The first 92 seconds alone of the video are packed with insight. Just, chefs kiss.

As someone who also struggles with mental health issues and food, I appreciate you making this video. Just seeing someone else deal with these things makes me feel less alone. So even if you end up feeling like you didn't make much "progress", thank you for that. It means a lot.
