At least 8 dead, dozens injured in Florida bus crash carrying farmworkers

18 күн бұрынEight people were killed when a bus carrying about 53 farmworkers crashed and overturned on West Highway 40 in central Florida, according to state officials.
About 40 victims were taken to hospitals and some are in "very serious condition," Florida Highway Patrol Lt. Patrick Riordan, told reporters.

Overloaded bus with no safety in mind. Sounds like the employer needs to be charged with negligent safety protocols. Horrible way to treat folk who are just trying to make ends meet. It's bad enough they're paid far less than the local demographics without stuffing them onto a overpacked bus just to come pick your produce. Shameful.....

Very few migrant farm workers are citizens. Americans don't do that kind of work. Florida depends on workers or there would be no agriculture income for the state. All that's needed to work is a 'Temporary Worker Visa'.
