Copper Mountain is the strangest place I've ever worked at, where entire departments quit in a day. Trade workers quit every month and upward mobility depends upon whose cousin or hunting buddy you are.

Hey, Kwan! Love your channel - the only one about mining engineering actually. Im a mature student studying at an Mining Engineering program in Ontario. I was just wondering, how difficult it was for you to find internships? Do you think I should extensively describe my Mining enxperience (i have 6 years of Open Pit mine planning) or it is better to decrease the list of my positions (I used to take those positions in my homecountry, but now I am an immigrant starting from scratch)? The thing is that I heard that sometimes Employers prefer hiring "green" young Interns so that they could train them the way they want, because sometimes it is difficult to re-train someone with an established mindset in mining.

Hi Molino, thanks for commenting. It was of moderate difficulty for finding a job. The commodity price would definitely have an impact on the number of companies looking to hire. I would say still show your experience, as most companies I think would want to minimize the training time. Your mining experience should also set you apart from most candidates which probably won't have mining experience. Hope that helps

I went to college, now all I do is all the work for junior engineers that know nothing about everything and are my boss by default. It all does not make sence but if you start fresh go to university, you will be kind of master of your own destiny.

Apparently, you didn't consider the necessary outside industries that were required to get your mining resource to market. You see a railway, without seeing rail cleaning operations. You see these mines in operation, and presumably, you think that the material to get the product to market is as simple as showing up in Toronto, You're not looking at the full picture. I see Diavik, and I see how many road crews to get that tractor-trailer to the actual pit in the first place, then, you consider "electrical" vehicles to replace the human element, I'm guessing, that the human element built the roads for your electrical vehicles, out in the middle of the permafrost, you just added to the cost of the mine.

Mining breaks the myth of "You need a degree in order to be successful in life." An average miner and crusher labourer makes 33/hr. No degrees and licensing needed. Canada and America is truly the land of the free. Free from the oppression of needing a degree to elevate standards of living just to feed yourself a can of tuna!!

1) You need a bachelors degree for an engineering role. For technician role, a diploma could work. 2) You need Canadian citizenship or visa

@@chris77777777ify the fish in the Athabasca are literally like the Simpson fish. A fisherman pulled a fish outta there with 3 eyes once so you know its polluted as hell. Not to mention the Beaver River Executive lodge that was built right beside it. The mining people do not care about our land, most of them are Australians or chinese who treat the locals like crap. Never working that way again, it brought the worst out in everything.
