8 Typical Mistakes in Hard Gel Nails Application
In this video I will share the most frequent and common mistakes in hard gel application.
Here they are:
1 - Air bubbles inside the jar
2 - Base coat is too thick
3- Applying too close to the cuticle
4 -Working too slow
5 - Undercuring
6 - Application is too thick
7 - Not enough product on the stress area
8 - Freeze curing hyperpigmented gels
How many have you done?

Interesting point about heat spikes, I always do my own gel or acrylic, and I use clear hard gel and builder gel. I was wondering *why* the heat spikes happen only sometimes, and the transparency of the gel seems to answer my question!

Thank you for this video!! It was a great reminder of some mistakes i had been doing and couldn't figure out why i had lifting! My lamp wasn't strong enough to flash/freeze cure some gels and i have to remember to cure each layer fully unlike some other gels. In me trying to save time, i ended up having product break down. This was really helpful! I’m just learning how to play with all this stuff and my first set on my left hand was awful. Way too much product, flooded margins, wrecked my cuticles trying to fix them. But no worries! It’s still better than how badly I used to chew my nails! I’m now subscribed to your channel. Do you have a video you’ve done or someone else has done that you like, that discusses the order of application of all the products? I think I’ve figured it out that it’s dehydrator, primer, base coat, gel, top coat. But would like more information about how each product affects the other. I’m grateful for any recommendations.

I just can’t seem to get the balance of building the stress area enough yet keeping the product thinish so the free edge looks natural. Can you tell us, maybe on another video how we can choose the correct builder gel, cause are many options but in Mexico there are no any nail tech that use this gels, or teach about hard gel extensions ( No that I know of course) the only option is AlliExpress but how to choose a very good quality gel? I been tried for a while and I finally think maybe CANNIE builder have the quality than the russian builders gels? Or you can tell us if there a brand to send to our country?.Thanks!

As an acrylic who has moved to gel for home application on myself, gel is both wonderful and frustrating. The flooding is my biggest issue. Makes me crazy! I try so hard. Makes me wish I could use acrylic at home, but my other half says no. Also, I am so slow at it.
@Aname0w
@Aname0w 5 жыл бұрын
Hi Jenn, have you tried using gels with a thick viscosity? A lot of builder gels don't even move if you turn the tub upside down. I found starting on those easier to understand the application, then moved to thinner viscosity gels once i understood the product and the self levelling helped even more. Try applying a very thin layer first and then another one on top to help the gel move around. :-)

I live in Norway and getting products here is very hard. I am a bit limited and have to order from abroad and often cannot get certain companies in, or they require a license to order that we don't have here. CJP is one of them. When i first started hard gel application i flooded the cuticle on 1 finger but quickly learnt not to however i was never taught to do a thin layer first and yes got heat spikes and was only taught to "freeze" each finger for 5 seconds and then 1 minute in led/uv lamp. Is this correct or can that create lifting? Also how many coats do you do?
@Nailcou
@Nailcou 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, you can freeze cure as long as you will fully cure them afterwards and do NOT apply another layer on top if it;s not fully cured yet. It's only for pigmented gels

Hi I'm quite new to using hard gel. I did a client last week and she contacted me to say 3 nails have popped off! Please can you tell me What I might have done wrong? I thought I prepped and dehydrated the nail plate so could it be something else? Thank you!
@marielanders1218
@marielanders1218 2 жыл бұрын
Did you take all of the shine off of the nails? After you dehydrated did you use primer? Did the product you used flood the cuticles, sidewalks, etc? Did you fix the flooding that the product might have done? There's a lot of factors that can cause lifting. The client can also have very oily skin and need to be dehydrated more than once throughout the process. Like do one nail at a time and dehydrate it when you get to it, or you can put a powder on their nails to help dry them out as well.

i have a question concerning the last point... i have heard before that gelpolish in general should not be flash cured... I had no idea it also applies to colour gel 😮 I would really love to know whats the reason why we cannot flashcure pigmented gels??
@Nailcou
@Nailcou 5 жыл бұрын
You can do flash curing with semi transparent colors, with intense colors - you can too. Just do not apply anything ON TOP until you fully cure the previous layer :) The reason is that pgiment is additional ingredient UV light can come through transparent colors but not thru intense ones. Flash curing makes upper thin layer hard, but will not cure the bottom layers.

I always flood my cuticles and sidewalls. And it always flows all over the place. But I’m always aware of that however still do same mistakes. But I have improved. It’s mostly happening with gel polishes and glitter gel polishes. Most of times I manage to clean all up before curing but sometimes gel manages to escape my scrutiny. Also the nude gel didn’t cure even after three minutes of curing thin layer for from both sides. Does it mean my lamps are too weak/incompatible or product being less quality? White gel once never cured at all on the inside. Clears though works with both lamps.
@aleksandraxo3730
@aleksandraxo3730 5 жыл бұрын
Probably your lamp is too weak. Check its power and the power recommended for curing the products that you use
@Nailcou
@Nailcou 5 жыл бұрын
Yes, sounds like you might need another lamp with at least 36 Watts, and check if the gel you're using is compatible with it
@BlueDiamondStar

@@Nailcou Well I have UV/LED (CCFL/LED) 36W lamp and I cure for like 3min (it has 10s/30s/60s default and I just keep trigger 60s over and over) and from both sides and all angles. It did feel kinda better and longer lasting with that lamp but not all the way like transparent gels do. I believe maybe the fact I got it from Aliexpress is the true culprit. I haven't yet gotten to order from NDED (Germany company) their gel products (but their acrylics were kinda good as far as I can judge). And I did order the fiberglass extensions and so wanted to do nude for maybe complete natural looks but now I'm worried.
