BRITISH PATHÉ'S STORY
Before television, people came to movie theatres to watch the news. British Pathé was at the forefront of cinematic journalism, blending information with entertainment to popular effect. Over the course of a century, it documented everything from major armed conflicts and seismic political crises to the curious hobbies and eccentric lives of ordinary people. If it happened, British Pathé filmed it.
Now considered to be the finest newsreel archive in the world, British Pathé is a treasure trove of 85,000 films unrivalled in their historical and cultural significance.
British Pathé also represents the Reuters historical collection, which includes more than 136,000 items from the news agencies Gaumont Graphic (1910-1932), Empire News Bulletin (1926-1930), British Paramount (1931-1957), and Gaumont British (1934-1959), as well as Visnews content from 1957 to the end of 1984. I think some honorable mentions should be the kingdom of Serbia, Kingdom of Montenegro, Tsardom of Bulgaria, Kingdom of Hungary and Kingdom of Albania. Some outside of Europe honorable mentions should be the Great Qing, Imperial State of Iran, Ethiopian Empire, Kingdom of Egypt and Kingdom of Iraq

Thaddel If wilhelm abdicated in 1918, why would the revolution that really kicked into motion in 1919 matter to him? There was great protests against the war, but you have to admit it was even greater after the Versailles. Millions of soldiers out of jobs, communists trying to take over and rise of anti semetism and nationalism... civilians distraught over pay, Germany being broke/ debt- inflation (eventually leading to hyperinflation), and yet people resorting to eating horses as alternatives...

Comedy Or Gamez Stop talking if you don‘t know anything about German history. The revolution was in 1918, what you said is plainly wrong. I have no interest in googling the English words, so feel free to look them up afterwards if you‘re interested. On october 3 Germany turned into a constitutional monarchy as it was the wish of the American president Wilson. However, war was not over yet which is why the „Kieler Matrosenaufstand“ happened in the first days of November. On November 9 the revolution also started in Berlin and Max von Baden, the chancellor, decided that there no longer should be a monarch and declared Friedrich Ebert the new chancellor and Wilhelm II. left Germany after that. In 1919 there was no revolution, but a left-wing riot called „Spartakusaufstand“ who was against the NEW government.

Manuel II just couldn't catch a break. First his father King Carlos I (his assassination was caused by Portugal declaring bankruptcy twice and submitting to British demands in Africa by letting them have Nyasaland, Southern, and Northern Rhodesia; now Malawi, Zimbabwe, and Zambia respectively) and his older brother Luís Filipe were both assassinated by the Carbonária during the Lisbon Regicide in 1908 and then two years later had to face the 1910 revolution and his residence getting shelled. He didn't die peacefully in exile either. He died unexpectedly at age 42 of suffocation caused by tracheal oedema, or abnormal swelling in his larynx's vocal folds.

Romanovs: What are you doing? This is a family! Bolsheviks: *OUR* family! It's irony that Mehmed VI died in Sanremo. Because six years before, the San Remo conference took place there which carved Ottoman territories into the proposed League of Nations mandates of Mandatory Palestine, Syria, and Mesopotamia. Mandatory Palestine and Syria became mandates while the mandate of Mesopotamia wasn't enacted and became an agreement under the Anglo-Iraqi Treaty in 1922 where Iraq would be allowed self-governance and the British would control foreign policy. Ten years later, the then Kingdom of Iraq would be granted its independence

The Russian Empire's end is one of sadness. Nicholas, despite his given poor leadership and decision making, still loved Russia to the very end. It broke his heart to abdicate, but at the same time he thought it was best both for the nation and his family. Sadly it was not enough to save him or his family. Despite how crappy a leader he was, him and his children did not deserve their early deaths.

I have learnt some Italian history and I saw a mistake at 6:58. It is not Vittorio Emanuele II who supported Mussolini but Vittorio Emanuele III. As a matter of facts, Emanuele II was the first King of Italy after its unification and he died in 1878 so it cannot be him. I guess it is a typo but I saw no one noticing the mistake in the commentary section and it can be misleading for someone who has not any knowledge in Italian history.

It's interesting because some of these could theoretically return (not saying they will since they have minimal support) e.g. the House of Hohenzollern and the House of Habsburg are existing to this day, just not in any significant way (Karl von Habsburg is an Austrian politician I guess, George Mikhailovich Romanov claims himself the Grand Duke of Russia, obviously without any real power, and Georg Friedrich von Hohenzollern is a businessman).

In Bulgaria, the last tsar, Simeon II, who was a kid at the time, lived his life post-abdication, and somehow managed to become prime minister after the country became a democracy. He considers himself a republican and a patriot, and doesn't care for the monarchy much. I think it's interesting how, especially as the current claimants might non have been born at the time, many ex-royal families just stop existing because their members just stop caring about the monarchy they could've claimed. Assuming no country returns to monarchy, I'd wager that many of these countries will have no-one to claim a hypothetical throne within the next 50-70 years.

The first singer is Edith Piaf singing "the three bells." the second is a folk dance I think but I don't know from where. the third has a piano leading into the Russian Imperial anthem. the forth I don't know. The fifth is Lizst I think. The sixth is the German national Anthem. The seventh is the Wanderer sang in German. Eight is the ottoman sultan clip which I don't know; it appears to be not Western music. Next comes Greece and I don't know it. The clip for Italy don't know but I think it is operatic. Romania I don't know.

The Kaiser's chancellor, Prince Max of Baden, announced the Kaiser's abdication to both the imperial and Prussian thrones on November 9th thinking that would save the monarchy, and then later that day Max himself resigned leaving Ebert in charge. Later that day one of Ebert's ministers proclaimed the republic. The Kaiser himself (and his son Crown Prince Wilhelm) didn't actually formally abdicate until nine days later, after he had escaped to the Netherlands.
