8. New Zealand Sea Monster
Found on Pukehina Beach in the Bay of Plenty, the strange marine creature had a very large head and exposed pointed teeth with rudimentary flippers and measured almost 30 feet (9 m) in length!!
7. Shark Becomes Bait
When Australian scientists tagged a 9-foot great white shark to study her movements, they didn't expect the device to wash ashore four months later with no sign of the shark. The biggest mystery is what happened to it?!
6. The Loneliest Whale In The World
In the northern Pacific Ocean, a strange sound was captured by hydrophones in 1989 by SOSUS, a software used by the Navy to capture sounds from enemy submarines. But what they discovered was a whale song, but not a song heard by any whale group.
5. Furry Russian Sea Creature
When a bizarre creature washed up on a Russian shore, spectators were rightfully curious about its strange beak and fur. Was it a hairy dolphin? Some deformed extinct defrosted mammoth? You’d think it would be easy to tell the difference but in this case, it’s very hard to say!! The thing was basically a sea monster.
4. Blobfish
The blob fish will not be winning any beauty contests any time soon. A member of the family known as fathead sculpins, other unattractive fish, the blob fish is normally found in an area between Australia and New Zealand.
3. Hairy Sea Monsters
What is it with these mysterious hairy blobs washing up on beaches? A recent discovery in the Philippines of a decaying hairy blob the size of a truck is one of the most bizarre discoveries of recent years. The 20 foot long grey and white carcass washed ashore on the beach, bringing with it the pungent smell of a rotting corpse.
2. Megalodon in the Mariana Trench?
While you might think that the only way you'll see the prehistoric Megalodon shark is in a Hollywood blockbuster, could it be possible that sharks three times the size of great whites still exist?
1. Bigfin Squid
Workers on an oil rig for the Shell company unwittingly captured video of the elusive bigfin squid in 2013. One of the ocean’s more mysterious creatures, not much is known about these squid because not many of them have ever been captured on video. With fins that are up to 90% of the length of the body and ridiculously long arms, the squid have strange movements including holding their arms at 90° angles from their bodies like some sort of weird alien.

I like the idea of exploring the oceans and discovering the creatures, but I'm mindful of how it is done. I don't think it's possible to physically map the oceans without someone physically going down, (well it is but it can cause a lot of disturbance to the inhabitants and drastically change the structure of areas). And I also think it's good to preserve the ancient and evolving life within, and I know that's part of the goal for the many people that work in/have interest in this subject. But I always wonder, what if, what we think is helping is actually causing damage.

In 1977, Japanese fishing trawler Zuiyō Maru caught a weird looking carcass that resembled a dinosaur. They had to let the carcass go, due to an extreme amount of foul stench that was completely unbearable. That was an interesting incident. Look for 'Zuiyo-maru carcass' in Google to see the photo of the creature.

The Blobfish is the cutest thing I’ve ever seen, and nobody can say anything to change my mind.
@annamichelsen8976
@annamichelsen8976 3 жыл бұрын
Actually what you perceive to be the blobfish is not actually at all what the blobfish looks like. Google an alive blobfish which looks more like just a regular fish. The pinkish blob that most people identify the blobfish with is actually a dead fish that was pulled up too quickly from it's habitat which is basically at the bottom of the ocean. That's why it turns into a blob it's skin adjusted to living that far down and it being pulled up destroys the cells and turns it into a pink blob hence the name blobfish...

Wowza! Another Brilliant 'Vid'! Thank you:One of my favourites, full of factual interest, with an injection of wry humour! I vote for the poor ole' 'Fathead Skulpuns'! Ummm yes, the 'Blobfish'- the favourable description of this fish, is much maligned; as it is just misunderstood & a *big fat softie*!!! 😏.(Keep the 'Vidz' coming... Luv them all). "Been there & (hopefully) got the..... T-Shirt"! Thanks🐠. Rosie 🦓

*Number* # *6* , Is my favorite species on the list reported by you Katrina as the " *Loneliest Whale In The World* " . The scientific research community from the waters to the Archeology do not know everything about our living species as it is & with the slaughter of whales over the centuries, what ever type of whale this is, must be protected at all cost. Hopefully there is a few others out there for conservation purposes also if possible. I hope I have a chance for the give away for my daughter Carly ! #Origins *is indeed my family's all time favorite KZfaq channel, You rock the education* ! My daughter & I watch your channel all this time in father/daughter quality time so I would love her to win with a signed shirt as she adores your work. Either way Katrina, I would love to make a financial donation to the Channel but I do not know where.

Aww I have to pick just one amazing sea critter? It seems so bias and unfair to do so. They are all equally worthy of love and admiration. The sea abounds with such a wonderous variety of life. I am also intrigued by the lovely narrator with the beautiful, angelic voice. So pleasant and relaxing it is. May the narrator have a most wonderful day!😄 #origins

The jaws, teeth, and tongue of the 1st creature make it pretty clear that the corpse was that of some sort of crocodile. As for the rest of the body, that could just be bloating from decay (or just photoshop). When rotting meat start sloshing off the bones of the limbs it becomes a bit shapeless and could be mistaken for a "flipper". Also why assume that the "mystery shark" that ate the tagged shark be some sort of super gigantic goon that swallowed its prey whole? Great white sharks are more than capable of ripping whatever they prey on into smaller chunks for easier swallowing. Is it so hard to imagine that a perfectly within normal size range specimen of shark just happened to tear the right part off and swallowed that. Or maybe some orcas did it. They are very picky and fussy and sometimes eat only a tiny portion of their prey. As for "furry" whales, when blubber decays they can split into tendrils that looks vaguely like "hair". This isn't a new phenomenon, this process has been observed again and again and again. It's actually also incredibly gross. The last furry "whale"s were incredibly primitive species from a hell of a long time ago from southern coastal seas around India, Pakistan, Africa, and such. Not Russia. What's the actual credentials of the so called scientist who said this might have been a furry whale trapped in ice age ice? Meglodon was a warm water creature. The probably reason they went extinct was that the warm water prey they fed on started evolving to live in colder waters instead and they couldn't change fast enough to follow. The Mariana trench is cold and there's not enough food there. Fishermen exaggerate or straight up lie. They have always done so. It's an ego thing. That is also not something new.
